This is an on-site on-demand job for a Break and Fix (Data Center) Technician at various locations within the San Francisco Bay area. The Break and Fix Technician will be responsible for repairing and maintaining computer hardware, diagnosing technical issues, and providing technical support to clients. Qualifications Visually inspecting devices to assess equipment status Providing loop-back cables in order to test circuits remotely Connecting a client-provided test set or test router to equipment Installing or replacing modular equipment components Dispatching equipment for repair Providing planned maintenance or circuit migration support Troubleshooting hardware problems on any device Racking and de-racking of any device installed Labeling/inventory equipment plus digital picture and serial number recording Power cycling a router, server, switch and soft-booting a server Follow Data Eradication process Install cables or optics for new circuits Testing of cables and Cable Management Installation Support (PDU, Network Switches, etc.) Hands-on experience in networking, routing, and switching Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructure Familiarity with backup and recovery software and methodologies Great at organizing, prioritizing, and multitasking Support network and server teams by assisting with rack and stack and running cables Labelling, patching, and asset tagging activities Follow specific task instructions and provision necessary reporting as necessary and support either through phone, remote tools, or in person at onsite Conduct failure analysis, perform functional testing of entire system/Identify failed Component, planned maintenance or circuit migration support Power cycling, running diagnostics commands, conducting whole unit replacement Replacing defective components, assist with fault diagnosis and investigation Identifying and replacing faulty cables Rebooting routers, servers, or other equipment and maintenance Providing loop-back cables to test circuits remotely, re-seating or replacing components or cables Good understanding of IT principles such as networks and hardware Understanding of current and legacy hardware Infrastructure platforms Hands-on experience in installation and troubleshooting Infrastructure (DC & Network) equipment, rack, and stack of the equipment/cable Ability to identify defective spares and replace them with provided good spares as instructed and by physical observations Recovery software and methodologies Servers (virtual & physical), storage and backup devices, server appliances Access points, routers, physical cabling, cable management Maintaining working components through repair or replacement Assisting call-ins or live chat with technical difficulties Analysing computer hardware problems, rectifying them, servicing and replacing parts when necessary Acting as the middle man between user and manufacturer when equipment has to be sent to the latter for repair Installing software, demonstrating its usage and troubleshooting when users are faced with problems Updating system software when required Setting up and solving problems with computer network systems, cabling and wireless networks Configuring email accounts through POP3, Outlook and IMAP Anti-virus software installation, reporting new virus files and malware removal Maintaining backup files Setting up equipment for web conferences and other events that use computers and their peripherals Servicing and maintaining computer-related equipment such as printers, projectors, web cameras and scanners Seniority Level Entry level Employment Type Contract Job Function Information Technology #J-18808-Ljbffr
