Vice President,Translational Research San Francisco, CA (Hybrid) Description A clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing next-generation therapeutics for genetic diseases is seeking an entrepreneurial scientist to drive biology and translational research efforts. This role will lead scientific strategy, assay development, preclinical dose guidance, regulatory documentation (including INDs), and other translational biology and pharmacology experiments through a combination of internal and external collaborations. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, interpersonal, and technical scientific skills. Responsibilities Lead the biology, pharmacology, and translational research efforts. Develop a deep understanding of the biology and pharmacology of the relevant disease area and treatment approaches. Generate comprehensive biology and pharmacology packages. Design, execute, and interpret preclinical studies to address mechanism of action and translational pharmacology studies (in vitro and in vivo). Manage relationships with CROs for efficient execution of preclinical and translational studies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including DMPK, toxicology, clinical development, and regulatory, to advance therapeutic candidates from preclinical to clinical development in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Develop scientific publications, abstracts, and investor- and layperson-facing materials. Evaluate expansion indications or additional therapy opportunities. Represent the program scientifically to internal and external audiences. Manage research associates or scientists as needed. Contribute to the drafting of translation- and pharmacology-related sections of regulatory documents, including INDs. Conduct due diligence and gap analysis on potential new assets. Qualifications Ph.D., MD, or Ph.D./MD degree in a relevant scientific field with 10+ years of related work experience in a biopharmaceuticalenvironment. Strong scientific background in bioscience and translational research, ideally demonstrated through scientific publications, presentations, and/or patents. Proven track record of successfully leading research programs and teams. Strong understanding of drug discovery and development processes. Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Ability to think strategically and execute effectively. Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners. Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards. Creative problem-solving abilities and an innovative approach to scientific challenges. Commitment, drive, and an ownership mindset.
