Structured Finance - Director, Asset-Backed Securities Fitch Ratings is seeking a Structured Finance Professional to join the Asset-Backed Securities Group in our Chicago or New York offices. Fitch Ratings is adding a senior credit professional to the Asset Backed Securities (ABS) team as a Director. The position will be responsible for a wide range of projects including assuming a leadership position within the ABS team rating transactions and authoring market commentary and research. Successful candidates should have previous experience leading ABS transaction analysis and applying macro trends impacting consumers to develop credit views. In this leadership role, strong communication skills are essential. A successful candidate will demonstrate a successful track record in the ABS market; experience in home solar and home improvement sectors are relevant. We'll Count on You To: Lead rating teams to analyze critical credit, legal, and structural elements of ABS transaction structures. Actively contribute to a dynamic market by leading rating analysis on a portfolio of ABS transactions and participating externally with investors, issuers, and bankers. Deploy your expertise in ABS credit and cashflow modelling to form analytical views and recommendations. Stay abreast of sector trends and communicate views internally and externally. Assist in the development of ratings criteria, including forming recommendations to bolster analysis and iteratively improve. Lead and/or support sector trend research reports and projects. What You Need to Have: We are looking for a credit professional with a BA/BS degree and a minimum of 7 years work experience with previous direct experience rating ABS transactions. Experience managing a team, ability to inspire and strategically plan workflows and progress on multiple projects in parallel. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, as is a high productivity work ethic and a results-oriented mindset. Expertise in common ABS structure types and a mature understanding of linkages between asset performance, structure, and operations. Knack for communicating credit views (particularly in writing) and ability to work with rating teams to analyze large data sets to form conclusions are required. Strong understanding of credit fundamentals and current economic conditions, combined with a willingness and ability to quickly learn new concepts and techniques. What Would Make You Stand Out: Direct experience in evaluating new ABS transactions, either buy-side or sell-side is prized. CFA candidate, or other professional designations highlighting strong understanding of financial concepts and previous experience showing credit mastery. Thoughtful views on economic trends in North America and expected impacts to consumer households and credit. Passion for cash flow modeling and loss forecasting analysis, with practical experience.
