Position Overview The Vice President (VP) of Merchandising is a key leader on the management team responsible for directing and developing merchandising strategies, operational systems and go-to-market plans to achieve the organization's financial and business objectives. This role leverages sales data, trend analytics, and market research to build category and product assortments and optimize price architecture ensuring alignment with strategic initiatives, seasonal campaigns, and consumer trends. The VP Merchandising will collaborate across functions, manage supplier relationships, and identify opportunities to expand and innovate the product portfolio while fostering favorable partnerships and business terms. Essential Functions, Duties & Accountabilities Merchandising Strategy & Planning Develop and execute comprehensive merchandising strategies to achieve financial and operational objectives. Utilize customer and marketing insights, sales data, trend analysis to drive category performance by strategically expanding product categories, developing custom programs and optimize assortments. Design and implement merchandise plans that align with strategic priorities, seasonal campaigns, and key product launches. Operational Excellence Establish and refine operational systems to improve efficiency and profitability. Monitor and evaluate merchandising performance metrics, adjusting strategies as needed to meet goals. Oversee pricing strategies to maximize revenue and maintain market competitiveness. Supplier & Partner Management Build and maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers while identifying and onboarding new partners. Negotiate favorable contract terms, ensuring alignment with company objectives and cost efficiencies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including supply chain, marketing, and sales, to support product success. Leadership & Team Development Manage and mentor a team of merchandising professionals, fostering a high-performance culture. Set departmental goals aligned with broader corporate objectives and ensure successful execution. Approve and oversee the development of policies, processes, and systems within the merchandising function. Innovation & Market Trends Stay ahead of industry trends and consumer behaviors to identify growth opportunities and potential risks. Drive innovation in product development and merchandising strategies to maintain competitive advantage. Additional Functions, Duties & Accountabilities Maintain flexibility in the work schedule to meet business needs. Actively and positively contribute to the overall success of the company through regular contributions to the general management of the company. Participate and provide leadership in inter-departmental meetings, projects and informal activities. Support the company and other departments wherever and whenever your skills and experience would be beneficial. Experience and Skills 10+ years of managerial experience with merchandising, with a proven track record of success in a senior leadership role. Expertise in merchandising strategies, analytics, and operational systems. Experience in operating in a more nimble, fast-paced, high growth entrepreneurial environment. Strong negotiation and vendor management skills. Excellent leadership and team development capabilities. Strategic thinker with the ability to drive innovation and execute long-term plans. Proficiency in market research, sales data analysis, and trend forecasting. Travel Ability to travel domestically and internationally when required.
