These automation systems are composed of many (electro-)mechanical and IT components, built by teams in various parts of the world and must be integrated with other (software) systems to support the processes of our customers. The System Integration department is part of the business unit Warehousing Solutions within Vanderlande Industries and is responsible for the system design, testing, and integration of complex Warehousing systems worldwide for customers like Albert Heijn, Woolworths and Walmart. The integration of all components (mechanical, electronic, OT software, IT software and IT Hardware) into a working system according to specifications is especially challenging for large and complex warehouses. This is the focus area of the System Integration Management-team. Your position The Integration Manager is part of the management of a Warehousing project. Working closely with a project manager and project leaders of the various hardware- and software engineering disciplines, he or she focuses on the design, integration and testing of the system with special attention for managing the technical risks that are inherent to complex systems. Key tasks and responsibilities: Manage the functional design to ensure customer requirements are translated into the right solution with the lowest possible risks. Advise on the use of standard solutions and the impact of special solutions. Identify risks and find solutions to reduce them. Realize the system integration plan, test plans and test specifications in collaboration with Solution Architect and Integration engineer(s). Manage the test phase and ensure a smooth, seamless transition to our customers' operational processes together with the Integration Engineer and other engineering disciplines. Understand the customer processes and act as an advisor in correctly estimating the impact of changes. Progress monitoring with clear, concise reporting. Managing component deliveries by suppliers through verification and validation. Integrating (sub-)systems in existing customer systems. Ensure that the system, after a careful testing phase, is handed over according to specifications by your colleagues and suppliers. Resource planning for the integration scope of a project. Manage punch list. Execute punch list. Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering or equivalent, or 3 years of experience in implementation of material handling systems or industrial controls systems, or 1 year of experience in PLC applications (Allen-Bradley preferred, Siemens is also valuable). Must be willing and able to travel 50% routinely, with increased amounts if projects demand. This position may require occasional on-call after-hours support. Good communication skills in English (written and verbal). Proactive and pragmatic. Well-developed analytical skills and the ability to think at a system level. Ability to properly prioritize work/activities. Able to motivate people at all levels and is a team builder. Team mentality and willingness to accept responsibility for project completion. Strong ability to solve problems and research solutions. Experienced system integrator, familiar with systems engineering processes (requirement management, verification and validation, change management, and configuration management). Ability to build partnerships with customers and with internal and external suppliers. Ability to find the right balance between quality, lead time, and cost. Desired qualifications: Familiar with customer processes in Warehouse Automation. Solid understanding of networking principles and computer hardware selection and setup. Capable of programming in SQL, Visual Basic, C, C++, C#, or equivalent. Logical mentality, skilled in understanding and designing Engineering Science: Logic & Programming. Solid understanding of PLC programming in industrial controls (Allen-Bradley preferred, Siemens is also valuable). Physical requirements: Ability to climb a 2-story ladder and walk a mile in 20 minutes. Capable of lifting up to 30 lbs. and working 10 hours standing, sitting, walking, or climbing stairs.
