Mission Critical is an international practice for Burns & McDonnell involving exciting, collaborative work across many departments. The Computational Fluid Dynamic Engineer will lead the creation and development of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) design models. The Staff Mechanical Engineer will lead the CFD project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting CFD models according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs for the Mission Critical Industry. The engineer will be responsible for completing each CFD analysis and report within budget and for all interfacing with the engineering teams. What you will do: Lead CFD analysis of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers. Apply knowledge of commonly used CFD concepts, practices, and procedures within the CFD services industry. Apply knowledge and experience to complex projects, finding non-standard design solutions. Prepare and present technical reports for clients. Ensure customer satisfaction goals and expectations are met. Adhere to QA/QC process. Communicate effectively with other engineering disciplines. Review Engineering team design information pertaining to CFD analysis detail modeling requirements. Advise on modeling information exchange and need by dates. Conduct wind speed and weather probability analysis. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program and 7 years of mechanical engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred. Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and 7 years of mechanical engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred. Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 6 years of mechanical engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred. Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures. Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE). Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills. Experience in steady-state and transient CFD modeling is preferred. Experience with Ansys Fluent and Space claim products is preferred. Strong computer skills including AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), 3D Rendering Programs, hydraulic analysis, and HVAC analysis programs. Experience with Cadence 6Sigma is preferred. Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills. Experience with leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members. Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications. Ability to travel. Professional Engineer (PE) License Preferred. Compensation $140,000.00-200,000.00 Annually The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience, and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
