Overview The Counter Service position is someone who has full knowledge of all food, beverage, and retail items in Malvern Buttery. They are responsible for delivering excellent customer service by greeting guests, making menu suggestions, packaging up/delivering food items and taking correct beverage orders. They manage transactions, ensure the display of baked goods is well-stocked and appealing, and maintain a clean, welcoming environment for customers. The role requires strong communication, multitasking, and teamwork skills to ensure smooth and efficient service. This person will act as a brand ambassador of The Buttery and work in conjunction with the Service Lead to ensure an exceptional customer experience and a great working environment. Responsibilities Greet customers and provide friendly, efficient service. Take and accurately process orders for food and beverages. Operate the POS system and accurately handle cash and card transactions in a courteous and friendly manner. Maintain neatness and cleanliness of the counter, seating area, and equipment. Assist in resolving customer inquiries or complaints. Foster a culture of respect, support, and teamwork. Assist the Service Lead in enforcing health, food safety, and sanitation standards in the Front of House (FOH). Report any customer comments to the Service Lead or MOD. Restock food display, retail shelves and assist with the distribution of weekly deliveries as needed. Provide efficient and friendly service at all times. Monitor cleanliness and organization of all FOH spaces, including outdoor areas, and report any property damage or potential safety hazards to the Service Lead. Ensure customer service standards are upheld across the team in coordination with the Service Lead. Continue education on coffee and tea products. Collaborate with the Service Lead and AGM to train new staff on culture, menu, and customer service. Qualifications At least 1 year of experience in high-volume coffee preferred Previous customer service experience in food and beverage or retail setting preferred. Excellent time management, organizational, and listening skills. Strong understanding of seasonally changing menus. Passion for hospitality and providing excellent customer service. Love for all things food and beverage.
