Prep Cook

Peak is hiring  Prep Cooks to Join   our Team.  Peak is a premium restaurant located on the 101st floor of 30 Hudson Yards; in a State-of-the-Art building with panoramic views and situated above Edge the highest outdoor observation deck in the city. A luxurious destination with breath-taking views of lower New York City Responsibilities:  Assists the Culinary Management team with food preparation as assigned Following prep lists created by chefs Maintains a working knowledge of food preparation for standard menu items Properly stores and labels food Ensure stations are prepped and ready for the start of service. Understands kitchen equipment and the operation of equipment Maintains a clean work environment, including floors and passages Cleans kitchen and equipment as assigned by the Culinary Management team Assists in keeping all food storage areas, refrigerators, freezers, etc. clean and organized Performs all duties in accordance with the standards established by the NYC Department of Health Attends staff meetings and in-services as required Performs other duties as assigned Assist with Prep Cooking and Special Events Requirements: 1-2 years of experience as a prep or kitchen assistant in a high-end, high-volume, fast-paced NYC kitchen (or comparable) Professional work ethic Effective communication skills and ability to take direction from supervisors Ability to work in a clean, organized, and efficient manner in a high-pressure environment. Must have excellent knife skills and proficiency in all aspects of cooking. Ability to work independently, resourcefully, and proactively solve issues Knowledge of Health Department food safety and sanitation standards Ability to lift, pull, push, carry up to 30 pounds/ stand for extended periods of time Compensation : $18 - $20/hourly (depending on experience) Offers made will be contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment verification and background screening through  E-Verify , as well as providing the required employment authorization documentation.
