The Role Position: Executive General Manager (GM) Reports To: Ownership and Operations Leadership Supervises: Executive Chef, Beverage Director, FOH and BOH Management Teams, and all restaurant staff Compensation: Competitive salary with benefits, including PTO, healthcare, and professional development opportunities The Executive GM will oversee the entire operation of Maydan and Medina , ensuring both restaurants maintain the highest standards of hospitality, service, and financial performance. This individual will lead the management teams at both locations, aligning daily operations with our core values, brand vision, and business objectives. This position requires a strong, strategic leader who can balance big-picture thinking with hands-on restaurant management . The ideal candidate will be adept at team development, financial oversight, guest experience optimization, and operational efficiency while championing a culture of hospitality, teamwork, and excellence. Key Responsibilities Leadership and Team Development • Provide strategic oversight and leadership to both restaurant teams, ensuring a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture. • Mentor and develop FOH and BOH leadership teams , fostering a collaborative and supportive environment. • Establish clear expectations, accountability measures, and growth pathways for all management staff. • Lead by example, embodying a guest-first philosophy and a commitment to exceptional hospitality . • Support recruitment, training, and retention efforts to build strong, engaged teams. Operational Excellence and Guest Experience • Ensure both restaurants operate at the highest level of quality, service, and efficiency , meeting and exceeding guest expectations. • Work closely with GMs, Chefs, and Beverage Directors to refine service standards, menu execution, and overall guest experience . • Oversee day-to-day restaurant operations , including staffing, scheduling, and problem-solving as needed. • Act as a hands-on leader during peak service periods, ensuring smooth execution and guest satisfaction. • Monitor guest feedback across multiple platforms, using insights to drive continuous improvement. Financial and Business Performance • Oversee financial health of both restaurants, ensuring revenue growth, cost control, and overall profitability. • Analyze and manage key financial metrics, including labor costs, food and beverage costs, and operating expenses . • Conduct weekly business reviews with GMs , identifying trends and opportunities for growth. • Partner with Ownership and Operations Leadership to develop and execute strategic initiatives that enhance brand positioning and profitability. Brand and Community Engagement • Ensure brand identity and mission are consistently upheld at both restaurants. • Collaborate with the marketing team to execute promotions, events, and community outreach efforts. • Act as a public-facing representative of Maydan and Medina, building relationships within the D.C. dining community. • Oversee partnerships and initiatives that reinforce our commitment to hospitality, culture, and guest connection. Compliance and Safety • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and labor laws , maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for both guests and staff. • Conduct regular audits of operational procedures, cleanliness, and maintenance standards . • Implement and uphold employee policies, performance management systems, and conflict resolution procedures . Minimum Qualifications • 5+ years of senior management experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant (Michelin, James Beard, or industry-recognized hospitality experience is a plus). • Proven track record of success in multi-unit management or overseeing large-scale restaurant operations. • Strong leadership and team-building skills , with the ability to mentor, motivate, and retain top talent. • Deep understanding of financial management , including PandL analysis, budgeting, and cost control. • Passion for guest service and hospitality excellence , with a hands-on approach to problem-solving. • Strong communication, organization, and multitasking abilities. • Proficiency in restaurant technology platforms (POS, scheduling, inventory, and CRM systems). • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. • A love for global cuisine, cultural storytelling, and creating memorable dining experiences .
