Job Title: MRI Technologist Job Specialty: Radiology MRI Job Duration: 5 months Shift: Monday - Friday 4 PM - 12 AM, including holidays Guaranteed Hours: 37.50 hours per week Experience: Proficiency with Epic Rad required License: - New York State License (L.R.T.) - NY State IV Certification Certifications: - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (MRI certified) - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Must-Have: - Proficiency with Epic Radiant - Proficiency with GE MRI Platform - ARRT MRI certification - NYS DOH Radiography license to inject Job Description: - Demonstrates the ability to perform clinical, technical, service, and administrative tasks. - Performs MRI imaging procedures and operates specialized equipment. - Assists, prepares, and positions patients for MRI procedures. - Applies technical judgment to obtain studies of diagnostic quality according to protocols and patient needs. - Provides patient education related to imaging procedures, informing them of the nature of the procedure and any specific instructions. - Reviews patient safety questionnaires and follows MRI safety precautions prior to scanning. - Ensures patients are cleared before transitioning from zone 2 to zone 3. - Assists in administering opaque media and loading power injectors under aseptic technique. - Positions patients and associated coils for optimum study. - Scans patient-related documents. - Ensures all images are appropriately labeled as specified by department SOP. - Assists physician directly as required. - Evaluates radiographs for technical acceptability and ensures timely transmission to PACS. - Maintains Radiology room and equipment cleanliness, removing soiled or dirty linen. - Maintains necessary supplies and accessories in the imaging room. - Accurately records required patient tracking information into IDX (Radiology Information System). - Schedules exams into IDX as required. - Ensures all studies performed are completed in a timely fashion in IDX. - Informs supervisor or appropriate personnel of needed repairs or unsafe conditions. - Prevents the spread of infection by adhering to infection control policies and protocols. - Attends in-services and professional development meetings as required. - Maintains licensure in good standing, ensuring compliance with applicable health codes.
