Bastia is a Sardinian and Corsican restaurant in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia. We are located in the beautiful Hotel Anna and Bel, which is a 50-room hotel in the historic former Penn Home. Both the hotel and restaurant opened in August, 2024. We butcher whole animals, make bread in-house, have an extensive handmade pasta program, and maintain close relationships with farmers in the region. The restaurant has opened to wide acclaim, including the highest 4-star rating from Jason Sheehan of Philadelphia Magazine, and has been featured in the Wall Street Journal among other national publications. We are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards for guest experience and culinary excellence. Every member of the team is imperative to maintaining these standards. The Role The barista has a passion for all things coffee, tea and is a morning ray of sunshine! This morning role will assist in cafe operations including stocking, making drinks, ringing guests up, serving food, setup and breakdown of the station. This position feels excited about coffee culture and enjoys delivering a fantastic guest experience. Responsibilities Prepares and serves coffee and tea following proper steps of service and standards. Properly handles, maintains and cleans all equipment. Graciously takes guests orders, questions, concerns and complaints in a polite and effective manner. Accurately handles cash and credit card payments following proper procedures. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of all menu offerings, making recommendations to guests. Manages inventory and stocking with proper FIFO and LIFO procedures. Adhere's to health and safety standards. Ideal Candidate Candidate has good problem solving skills. Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills. Candidate works well autonomously. Candidate is detail oriented and highly organized. Candidate has excellent interpersonal, communication and people skills. Works with professionalism and is self-driven. Demonstrates a deep understanding and appreciation of food and beverage culture including the trends, the disruptors, the behaviors and the complexities/opportunities. Has a passion for hospitality, service, food and beverage. Requirements and Experience 1-3+ years of hospitality experience in full-service restaurants. Open availability including evenings, weekends and holidays. Flexibility and willingness to adapt to ongoing changes. Ability to inspire, motivate and develop employees. Ability to identify problems and solve them. Proven track record in building high-performance teams. Professional and confident verbal and written communication with guests, employees and ownership.
