Job Title: Senior Inventory Accountant Department: Finance FLSA Status: Exempt (Full Time) Reports To: Controller COMPANY OVERVIEW Pinnacle Propane is a leading propane provider in the USA that delivers propane gas for homes and businesses. POSITION SUMMARY The Senior Accountant-Inventory will ensure accurate and complete transactional processing in accordance with company policy. Primary responsibilities include the accounting and internal reporting for all balance sheet and P&L accounts pertaining to inventory. This individual will be the subject matter expert for all systems used and will prepare various reports and analysis for management and business partners. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS * Performs all assigned month-end duties and reporting schedules * Develops inventory analysis reports and analyzes variances * Provides guidance and/or resolution of reconciling items * Participates in system process and development projects * Leads periodic physical inventory counts * Conducts investigations of count variances * Monitors Internal Controls for adherence relative to inventory * Provides support to the Corporate Controller by assisting other functions within the group as needed * Manages and improves the monthly financial closing process * Prepares analysis to support management initiatives and audit requests * Responsible for effectiveness of internal controls for closing routine process and other general accounting processes including maintenance of risk and control scorecards * Ensures timely and accurate preparation and distribution of monthly financial reports and statements including internal reports for global consolidations * Works directly with both internal and external auditors on financial audits * Participates in special projects as requested by leadership COMPETENCIES * COMMUNICATION - must be able to effectively communicate with teammates, managers, and customers * INTERPERSONAL SKILLS - demonstrates the ability to understand relationship-orientated aspects of social effectiveness and to operate successfully in a variety of social exchanges * COURAGE - demonstrates confidence and the ability to take calculated risks and challenge the status quo * DECISION MAKING - displays the ability to make good decisions and / or lead sound decision-making processes * TEAMWORK - possesses the ability to work together toward a common vision PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS * Independently performs tasks of a routine nature * Consistently delivers quality work during allotted timeframes * Demonstrates appropriate organizational skills * Understands and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Education: * Minimum of five years of job-related accounting work experience is required. "¯Previous fixed asset accounting is preferred. * Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field * Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred but not required. Experience / Abilities: * Ability to coach, train, and mentor other accountants * Ability to remain organized and focused on attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. * Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills. * Strong working knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP) * Advanced knowledge of Microsoft products and experience with accounting and maintenance software * A broad and deep understanding of accounting practices and procedures * Advanced ability to manage projects and assignments with extreme accuracy and efficiency. * Advanced reading and writing skills. * Ability to communicate effectively executive management along with peers and subordinates, both written and verbal. * Perform advanced mathematical calculations.
