Title:Assistant/Associate Professor (Mathematical Sciences)Department:Mathematical SciencesReports To:Chair, Mathematical SciencesPosition Type:FacultyPosition Summary: TheDepartment of Mathematical Sciences (DMS) at the New Jersey Institute ofTechnology seeks candidates to fill a tenure-track position at the assistant orassociate professor level in the areas of statistical data science and machinelearning. The appointment is expected to start in Fall 2025.Essential Functions: - Conduct research; pursue funding; engage in scholarly activities such as publishing papers in scientific journals and presenting work at conferences and research and educational institutions; supervise and guide graduate and undergraduate students and postdoctoral scientists on research.- Teach graduate and undergraduate courses; develop courses and contribute to curriculum improvement.- Participate in service activities within the Department, College, University, and the Profession.Prerequisite Qualifications: - Candidatesshould have a Ph.D. in Statistics, Data Science, or related discipline withstrong research, funding, and teaching potential. - The department isparticularly interested in candidates who, in addition to demonstratingresearch excellence, will be highly effective at teaching data science andstatistics courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisitesmay be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of theuniversity, an equivalent combination of education and experience specificallypreparing the candidate for success in the position.Bargaining Unit:PSAFLSA:ExemptFull-TimeSpecial Instructions toApplicants:Applicationsshould include a cover letter, a resume/CV, research and teaching statements,and names and contact information for at least four references.
