Technical Feed Mill & Quality Support Manager | Westway | Houston, Texas We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join us as Technical Feed Mill & Quality Support Manager responsible for supporting the Westway sales team in establishing value propositions of liquid feed mill products. This role involves providing individual and group training of technical knowledge in liquid feed mill products and feed mill management to the Westway sales team and customers. Responsibilities also include providing leadership in the selling process and participating in the development and research of current and new value-added products that support our growth strategy. Additionally, the role requires providing necessary technical support to feed mill customers and vendors as needed, and becoming familiar with the Westway feed manufacturing processes by working closely with quality and laboratory services. Business Overview Westway Feed Products is North America's largest manufacturer of liquid supplements for livestock. We produce feed mill products, dried molasses, and industrial products, utilizing co-products from other industries to convert them into safe, high-quality, cost-effective livestock feed supplements. Our operations span 25 production facilities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This role will require up to 60% maximum travel to support the Westway field sales team with customers across North America & Canada. Key Accountabilities Technical support for the Westway sales team in the sales of feed mill products (60%): Support the developed feed mill strategy and achievement of growth targets. Provide technical feed mill training to support the value of liquid feed mill products manufactured by Westway. Learn and become proficient in necessary software and procedures for formulating, manufacturing, and pricing products. Maintain good working relationships with the Westway feed mill sales team and build a portfolio of business for Westway. Provide product and ingredient expertise in feed mill manufacturing to increase sales. Assist customers with liquid feed mill management and technical information. Collaborate with operations, nutrition, formulations, and regional sales manager on product development and market opportunities. Represent Westway at local, state, and prominent feed mill associations and conferences. Participate in professional training to enhance growth. Attend and support technical nutrition team events and initiatives. Maintain competency through professional meetings and seminars. Support of the quality department (40%): Work with the quality department to provide necessary support. Become familiar with all Westway liquid manufacturing plants. Understand liquid feed ingredients and their manufacturing specifications. Gain knowledge of laboratory processes to support quality monitoring and manufacturing. Skills and Experience PHD in feed manufacturing or animal nutrition preferred OR master of science in animal nutrition or feed mill science with substantial experience. Knowledge of feed mill and animal feed industry trends. Ability to research and analyze market and customer information. Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts. Ability to negotiate favorable terms for the company. Ability to read and interpret business and technical documents. Effective communication skills with co-workers and customers. Attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
