Washington Monthly Magazine ranks FIU among the top 20 public universities contributing to the public good.Job SummaryThe Department of Student Media in the College of Communication, Architecture and the Arts (CARTA) is currently seeking a student radio station General Manager to join their team of professionals.Duties include:Sets the vision for the student-run radio station.Hires and manages a staff for The Roar.Ensures the student radio station is broadcasting to the FIU community non-stop on 88.1-FM, 95.3-FM and 96.9-FM.Works hand in hand with the Editor in Chief to ensure The Roar staff uploads fresh content on PantherNOW.com.Serves as a leader and representative of Student Media, specifically The Roar.Minimum QualificationsStrong communication skillsKnowledgeable in technology programs and software relating to radio broadcasting.Management and team leadership skillsExcellent communication skills and responds to messages in a timely manner.Radio experience is preferable.Some knowledge of music, genres, trends, etc.Job Category:Student AssistantStudent Disclosure:Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.During the Summer semesters, students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.Upon decreasing credit hours or graduating, student employment must end.Work Schedule:20 hours weeklyAdvertised Salary:$14.00/hourPre-Employment Requirements:Criminal Background Check: This student appointment may be subjected to a pre-employment background check.How To ApplyCurrent EmployeeAs a current employee, you must log into Employee Self Service (ESS) to apply for this and any other internal career opportunity of interest.
