The ideal candidate will be dedicated to providing exceptional service and creating an unforgettable dining experience for our guests. This role requires a deep understanding of Japanese cuisine, sushi preparation, and beverage pairings, along with a commitment to impeccable service standards in a fine dining environment. The Waiter will be responsible for taking orders, serving food and drinks, maintaining cleanliness, upselling, and ensuring guests receive the highest level of attention and hospitality. [Please apply only if you have prior experience as a server in a sushi restaurant.] Key Responsibilities: Guest Engagement and Service: Greet guests warmly upon arrival and provide a polished introduction to the dining experience. Offer personalized recommendations on menu items, including sushi selections, appetizers, and beverage pairings. Actively engage with guests throughout their meal, checking in on satisfaction, anticipating needs, and addressing any concerns promptly. Menu Knowledge and Presentation: Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the menu, including all ingredients, preparation methods, and presentation styles, to provide accurate information and suggestions to guests. Be able to articulate the flavor profiles of different sushi types and suggest complementary sake, wine, or cocktails. Assist guests in navigating the menu, especially newcomers to Japanese cuisine, ensuring they have a memorable and satisfying experience. Order Taking and Service Execution: Accurately take and input orders into the restaurant's point-of-sale system, ensuring that all special requests or dietary restrictions are noted. Coordinate with the kitchen and food runners to ensure timely and accurate delivery of dishes to the table. Serve food and beverages with care, adhering to fine dining etiquette and presentation standards. Upselling and Enhancing the Dining Experience: Utilize upselling techniques to enhance the guest experience and increase revenue, recommending additional items or specials when appropriate. Highlight seasonal dishes, chef's specials, and unique beverage offerings to elevate the dining experience. Leverage in-depth knowledge of the menu and Japanese cuisine to suggest additional courses, premium ingredients, or beverage pairings like sake and Japanese-based cocktails. Table Maintenance and Cleanliness: Monitor tables throughout the meal, ensuring they remain clean, organized, and free of clutter. Remove used utensils, glassware, and plates promptly and discreetly, keeping the table presentable at all times. Ensure table settings are pristine, and replace any items that are missing or not up to the restaurant's fine dining standards. Refill water and assist with non-alcoholic beverage service as needed. Station Cleanliness and Organization: Keep your service station clean and well-organized throughout the shift, ensuring all tools and supplies are properly stocked and ready for use. Assist in maintaining a clean and sanitary environment by following health and safety protocols for food handling, utensil use, and station hygiene. Participate in end-of-shift cleaning tasks to prepare the restaurant for the next service. Collaboration with Kitchen and Service Teams: Work closely with the kitchen staff to ensure accurate and efficient service, communicating any guest requests or modifications promptly. Coordinate with food runners and bussers to maintain a smooth and organized flow of service during peak times. Participate in pre-shift meetings to stay informed about daily specials, menu changes, and service expectations. Handling Guest Concerns and Feedback: Address guest complaints or concerns with professionalism, working to resolve issues swiftly and to the guest's satisfaction. Communicate feedback or recurring issues to management to improve service quality and enhance guest experiences. Foster positive relationships with guests, ensuring they leave satisfied and eager to return. Adhering to Health and Safety Standards: Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a clean and safe dining environment. Ensure compliance with all health regulations and restaurant policies regarding food handling, cleanliness, and service protocols. Participate in training and meetings related to health and safety practices. Professionalism and Appearance: Maintain a polished and professional appearance in accordance with the restaurant's high-end brand image. Demonstrate excellent grooming and hygiene practices, reflecting the restaurant's commitment to quality and excellence. Exhibit a positive attitude and a willingness to assist fellow team members to create a collaborative work environment. Closing the Table and Farewells: Accurately present the guest's check in a timely manner, ensuring all items are correctly itemized and explained if needed. Close the table with a gracious farewell, thanking guests for their patronage and inviting them to return, enhancing their overall dining experience. Qualifications: 1+ year of Sushi Restaurant server experience is a MUST!!! TOAST POS experience is highly preferred OpenTable experience is highly preferred 2+ years of experience as a waiter in a fine dining or high-end restaurant setting, preferably with a focus on Japanese cuisine or sushi. Strong knowledge of sushi, sake, and Japanese dining customs, with the ability to communicate this knowledge effectively to guests. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for providing outstanding customer service. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and high service standards. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the restaurant's schedule. Working Conditions: This position requires standing for extended periods, walking, and carrying trays of food and beverages in a high-pressure, fine-dining environment. The Waiter must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate the restaurant's service hours.
