Posting Number 3814P Position Title Inventory Technician - 955 Department Public Works Job Code 06100 FLSA Status Non-Exempt Union Code/Affiliation Local 955 Division VEHICLE MAINTENANCE Job Description Summary The purpose of this job is to oversee inventory operations, including stock requisition and distribution, inventory control, and purchasing. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description * Supports internal staff with materials and tasks. * Creates requisitions and purchase orders, collects and processes invoices, and receives and delivers goods. * Serves as primary point of contact for equipment orders and external vendors. * Manages stock to verify accuracy. * Performs accurate physical inventory audits and spot checks. * Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function. * Performs other duties as assigned. Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered Education and Experience * High School diploma or equivalent. * 1 to 3 years' experience in storeroom operations, purchasing, inventory control, or related field. Licenses or Certifications * Valid driver's license. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position Knowledge of: * Standard parts, materials, equipment, and supplies used in Fleet Operations. * General office practices and administrative procedures, records management and administration techniques and procedures. * Basic arithmetic and computational operations. Skill in: * Typing and/or data entry with minimal errors. * Estimating time and materials needed to complete jobs. * Communicating verbally and in writing to meet the needs of the audience. * Organizing and managing time effectively. Ability to: * Follow oral and written instructions. * Learn and comply with purchasing rules and procedures. * Calculate accurate inventory levels. * Recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. * Regularly use a computer, software, phone and related office equipment. * Develop and maintain effective working relationships. * Focus on tasks. * Provide high levels of effective customer service.
