Award winning Smith Street Stage seeking to build out its team with a new Marketing/Social Media Manager. Brooklyn Shakespeare company Smith Street Stage is seeking applicants to join our team and carry out the marketing duties of the company. As a small company, we are looking for a candidate with interest/experience in promoting grassroots, independent theater. Company Overview: Smith Street Stage is an actor-led company that explores the works of Shakespeare with regard to their examination of character, human conflict and personal and institutional power structures. We believe this way of working renders Shakespeare's plays clear and accessible to all audiences without sacrificing their complexity or human dilemma. Smith Street Stage is committed, through classes, workshops, and its rehearsal process, to the ongoing artistic development of its actors and early career theater artists. Job Overview: The Marketing/Social Media Manager is an important part of our team, and is responsible for the strategy, content creation, and execution of the Smith Street Stage brand and production marketing on all social media channels. In addition to devising creative campaigns, this position will strategize increasing our social media reach and attendance to our productions. They care deeply about theater and the impact it has on our audiences/community in Brooklyn! Responsibilities: Establish and execute a strategic content calendar that leverages our productions' strengths, and employs best social media practices across platforms. Identify and execute creative ideas and strategies for online social engagement and content appropriate to our respective social media channels. End-to-end production of social/marketing content (videos, photos, copy, etc.) utilizing new or archival rehearsal videos, interviews, takeovers, press, etc. Coordinate with team members to align all marketing plans/strategy with PR team and Production timelines. Collaborate with company leadership to align with all content with company best practices and brand consistency. Communicate with graphic designers to ideate and finalize all production materials such as postcards, posters, programs, banners, social graphics, and e-blasts. Manage creation and coordinate distribution of all printed promotional materials (postcards, posters, program cards and banners). Oversee the collection of materials and finalization of all production programs. Coordinate all hiring and execution of production photography and videography. Update company website with latest information such as hiring updates, show announcements, and production details. Stimulate audience growth through thoughtful and effective social and grassroots marketing campaigns. This position will require approximately 15-20 hours of work a month, for which the company offers a $500 monthly honorarium, and almost all of the work can be done remotely. We are seeking to maximize transparency and minimize exploitation in these positions and aim to supplement the honorarium with the maximum amount of flexibility, clarity and support that we can offer.
