Position Purpose The Senior Network Engineer will provide leadership and guidance on all networking and data center designs and configurations across the GIA enterprise. This role will lead a team of network engineers providing technical support and administration of Enterprise-class security, network, and telecommunication services. The Senior Network Engineer will ensure appropriate staffing, documentation, and process are in place to support and deliver networking services. Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks Collaborate with IT management and department leaders to assess near- and long-term network capacity needs and provide resource requirements (people and/or technology) to support it. Design and deploy company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including core data center & site firewalls, routers, core & site switches, and other network hardware. Design, implement, and support firewalls, site-to-site VPNs, and remote-access VPN. Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry. Configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes. Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed. Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configurations/diagrams, network mapping, processes, and service records. (Cisco Smartnet renewals, inventory) Work in partnership with Security to address risks and maintain secure configurations. Work closely with management and team to gather input, diagnose root causes, and resolve problems. Document processes to standardize end user experience. Proactively communicate with management throughout the problem resolution process. Interface with executives, engineers, and vendor technical support resources. Maintain network infrastructure and assist in root cause analysis of any network issues. Assist in developing a disaster recovery plan, assist in testing plan and update documentation as needed. Recommend and justify any upgrades to infrastructure and systems. Build, implement and document new locations according to industry best practices. Participate in ongoing certification and training opportunities. Provide mentoring and leadership to team members as appropriate. Leads and participates in teams to implement projects throughout the organization. Manage scheduling for on-call coverage as needed. Continuous growth and exploration of new technologies to enhance network performance and capabilities. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Diploma from college or vocational school; or equivalence of education and work experience. Pursuit of certification at the systems administration level from the following: Microsoft Vmware Cisco Fortinet Experience: Six (6) + years providing advanced networking hardware and software technical support. Additional Qualifications Excellent people skills. Experience supporting networking, security, virtualization, storage software and hardware products, including: Experience supporting or troubleshooting in an IT environment (server, application, or infrastructure). Experience with multiple manufacturers of network equipment, Fortinet, SonicWALL, and HP. Solid understanding of Cisco IOS, Windows Server Products, Unix, and Linux operating systems. Proven ability to diagnose, resolve, and document technical support issues. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Positive, customer-centric approach. Working experience in systems administration or internal IT support. Ability to travel to office locations. Must have valid driver's license and auto insurance; own transportation.
