Overview Hartrick Veterinary Clinic has an opportunity for a part-time OR full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team! Location: 30955 Woodward Ave., Ste. 225, Royal Oak, MI 48073 Shift Details: We are open to part time and full time applicants. For full time applicants, we require at least 4 weekend days per month. We are flexible with scheduling those days and will include general practice days during the week. Pay Range: $19 - $22 (With a $3.00 pay differential for Urgent Care hours) Skills: We are looking for a part time or full time veterinary assistant that has a special interest in urgent care. Someone with working knowledge of a veterinary hospital (vaccines, medications, procedures). We need someone with experience reading ear cytologies, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, ability to operate in-house lab equipment. We need someone that can confidently and efficiently keep the flow for the day on schedule. Hospital Hours: Monday - Friday 8 am - 6 pm Saturday 9 am - 2 pm Urgent Care Hours: - starting in March Saturday's and Sunday's 10 am - 10 pm Looking for the next step in your veterinary career? We are always seeking ways to enhance what we offer to the pets and families we serve. This service will address non-life-threatening issues that still require prompt attention, such as vomiting/diarrhea, minor wounds, limping, eye injuries or changes, and sudden behavior changes. While these conditions may not be emergencies, timely evaluation and treatment are essential to preventing complications and improving comfort for pets in need. Hartrick Veterinary Hospital is a growing 5.5-doctor practice currently serving dogs, cats, and pocket pets. We're thrilled to welcome a new Urgent Care veterinarian to our team in March, further expanding our capabilities and services. We offer a broad range of veterinary services, including: * Orthopedic Surgeries * Diagnostic Ultrasound * Echocardiograms * Feline-Friendly Certified Care * Fear Free Trained Staff * Laparoscopic Surgery for quicker healing times (used for spays, gastropexy, foreign body removals, and more) In addition, we have adopted Scribe Note, a state-of-the-art AI technology that has greatly streamlined our workflow. This tool automatically transcribes conversations with clients into detailed veterinary medical documentation at the touch of a button, saving time and allowing our team to focus more on patient care and less on charting. With Scribe Note, as our doctors discuss a pet's history and examination with clients, the system captures key details and creates an accurate transcribed note, which can then be easily edited and transferred into our practice management system. Responsibilities How you'll make an impact: * Our Veterinary Assistants assist the Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians in all of their duties * The Veterinary Assistant helps to prepare animals for exams and surgery. * The Veterinary Assistant aids in performing medical treatments. * The Veterinary Assistant will perform or prepare laboratory tests. * The Veterinary Assistant will administer medications under the direction of a Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician. * The Veterinary Assistant will obtain and properly handle/prepare in-house and laboratory specimens (cytology, blood draws, blood smear, fecal, etc.) * The Veterinary Assistant works in cooperation with staff to attend to any immediate needs. * The Veterinary Assistant handles animals and their owners in a responsive, courteous and tactful manner, and inform staff and clients of any pertinent medical information related to animal care. * The Veterinary Assistant maintains a healthy, safe, sanitary, pleasant and clean facilities for the animals. Qualifications Physical demands and work environment * The Veterinary Assistant must have the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds and lift over 50 pounds with the assistance of a coworker. Requires sufficient ambulatory skills. * The Veterinary Assistant must be able to work in noisy work conditions with sounds from animals and equipment that can be moderately high. * The Veterinary Assistant is routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and on occasion, exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards and medication/controlled substances. * The Veterinary Assistant must be fluent in the written and verbal skills necessary to perform successfully the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the position. * The Veterinary Assistant must be able to exchange accurate information with all clients and team members.
