TITLE:Reliability EngineerJOB STATUS:Full-Time (on-site)SALARY RANGE:$105,000 AnnuallyThe Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC) is a public benefit corporation and political arm of New York State, whose mission is to develop, maintain, and operate the infrastructure of Roosevelt Island. As part of this mandate, RIOC operates and maintains several facilities including the Cultural Center, Sportspark, and the Motorgate Garage, as well as other outdoor spaces such as Firefighter's Field, Southpoint Park, and Lighthouse Park. Infrastructure operations also include the Aerial Tramway and a free Red Bus Service that stops at various points on Roosevelt Island, along with a Public Safety Department that serves as the community's first responders in coordination with the New York City Police Department.Position Summary:Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Engineering and Capital Projects & Planning, the successful candidate will provide Reliability Engineering services for new and existing sites at Roosevelt Island. The selected person will be responsible for overseeing the Civil Engineering life cycle of projects from conceptual design to commissioning and delivering documentation manuals, specifications, and drawings. This position plays a critical role in validating compliance for in-house and consultant-prepared work.Job Responsibilities:Preparing structural drawings with supporting calculations for system forces, momentum, and elasticity modules in a matrix of selected materials applicable to environmental conditions.Writing specifications and cost estimates following infrastructure evaluation of systems in need of repair, upgrade, or replacement.Ensuring technical integrity, safety, and efficiency maintainability with sound design details and concepts.Elaborating in-house or reviewing outside contractor or consultant design submittals.Preparing engineering reports with detailed calculations derived from tabular and graphical data, analyzing surface conditions classified as seismic or flooding risk zones.Evaluating conditions of roadways, bike lanes, sidewalks, bridges, towers, tunnels, manholes, basements, vaults, or confined spaces to ensure systems are integral or in need of immediate or long-term repair or replacement for proper planning and execution.Conducting field inspections ensuring projects are proactively coordinated with other disciplines, securing that projects remain under budget and within anticipated timelines.Performing field surveys for maintenance, upkeep, retro-commissioning, and scheduling of integrity tests in all existing systems and structures, such as steel towers, beams, foundations, roadways, roofing, etc.Skills & Qualifications:Experience in preparing bid specifications, contracts, and service agreements.Knowledge of structural design software such as SAP, ETABS, STADD, RISA, or similar.Ability to proactively anticipate needs and foresee problems following engineering principles and maintenance reliability concepts.General knowledge of compliance codes and their reference standards, such as NYC Building Code, IBC code (NJ), AASHTO Specifications for Highway Bridges, Tramways system, etc.Education & Experience:Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET four-year accredited engineering university.Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Civil Engineering upkeep of systems and structures.What we offer:A comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental and vision, paid holidays, sick and vacation days, commuter benefits, retirement plans, flexible spending accounts, EAP, LTD and Life Insurance Programs, and an exciting work environment with a beautiful view of Manhattan and Long Island City.RIOC provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or genetics.
