Reporting to and collaborating with the Lead Pastor and the Pastor of Care and Discipleship, this role will focus on assimilating newcomers and establishing regular attenders in existing community group, formation, and outreach ministries at Christ Church. In addition, the Director will seek to establish a vibrant young adult group that is built in line with Christ Church culture and traditions, a sense of warm community, and ongoing outreach among young adults. The Director will lead volunteer teams and implement strategies to help young adults grow in Christlikeness, connect in community, and engage in service opportunities.Key ResponsibilitiesGroupsAssist Pastors with assimilation of newcomers and regular attenders by putting them on a path of new friendships and deepening faith through Community Group involvement.Help recruit and develop new Community Group leaders, launch new groups, and visit and coach leaders.Encourage and equip our Community Groups to regularly participate in outreach and service opportunities.Develop and multiply young adult Community Groups by fostering a culture of welcoming community, teaching, spiritual growth, and multiplication.Expand, strengthen, and cultivate the young adults ministry with welcoming engagement with newcomers and integration into the wider church community.Support the planning and execution of community-building and spiritually enriching events, including retreats and conferences such as launching an annual young adult retreat.Interface with our CCO campus minister who is overseeing university ministry to undergraduate and graduate students; integrate the graduate students into our young adult ministry.FormationLead and oversee young adult discipleship initiatives to ensure congregants grow in biblical dependency, gospel-centrality, and Christlikeness.Organize and lead Sunday Bible classes and regular adult education opportunities.Assist in growing our weekly, monthly, and quarterly prayer ministries.Work with our campus minister to develop the Cal Scholars Series.Assist Pastors with hosting regular singleness/dating/marriage seminars, premarital counseling offerings, and arranging marriage mentorships.Assist Pastors in providing annual evangelism training, developing the Alpha team, and recruiting/hosting for the Alpha course.Preach 2-4 times per year.Cultivate partnerships with local organizations and campus fellowships to enhance formation and outreach efforts.Volunteer Recruitment, Training, and EquippingRecruit, train, and mentor young adult volunteers and leaders to support discipleship and outreach efforts within the young adult ministry.Collaborate with Pastors to develop and align volunteers in their sphere of ministry (e.g., Community Groups, Young Adults, Outreach, etc.).Create pathways for young adults to step into leadership roles within the ministry.OtherPromote the mission, vision, and values of our church.Assist staff with church-wide events as needed.Because Christ Church is a small church with a relatively small staff, you may be asked, from time to time, to perform tasks outside of your job description in furtherance of the church's mission, goals, and needs.Passion for discipling others and cultivating a gospel-centered community.Strategic thinker with the ability to craft and implement creative ministry solutions.Ability to balance relational ministry with administrative responsibilities.Passionate about Christ Church's culture of being a sacred place where Christ is exalted, a safe place where Christ is encountered, and a sacrificial place where Christ is embodied.Resonates with Christ Church's core focus on "Inching a multiethnic, multigenerational community of explorers and disciples toward Christ as culturally-thoughtful and warm-hearted confessionally Reformed evangelicals."Aligned with Christ Church East Bay staff values:Principled PurposeJoyful WisdomHumble ConfidenceReports to:Lead pastorWorks with:Staff, Community Group leaders, volunteersHours:Full-time (40 hours per week)Salary:$75,000-110,000 Depending on experienceSchedule:Sunday - Thursday, some weekends and eveningsHow to ApplyInterested candidates should submit their resume and cover letter outlining their qualifications and vision for the role to .Hiring is contingent on reference and passing background checks.RequirementsQualificationsEducation: BA degree from Bible college and/or Masters degree from seminary preferred.Experience: 1-2 years of general local church ministry preferred (seminary internship or field education requirement is sufficient).A deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ.A strong commitment to Christ Church's mission, values, and culture.Experience in leading discipleship and outreach initiatives, preferably within a young adult or church ministry context.Proven ability to recruit, train, and develop volunteer teams.Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to connect and inspire others in diverse spiritual stages.Familiarity with the unique challenges and opportunities of working with young professionals and graduate students, particularly those in demanding academic or career environments.The profile that will make a great team addition: Extrovert, networker, people gatherer, connector, galvanizer, fun, loves talking to people about Jesus, theologically thoughtful, with a passion for discipleship.#J-18808-Ljbffr
