Senior Recruitment Coordinator, TRQ - 22740 Division/Office: Division of Human Resources Borough: Brooklyn Posting End Date: 02/19/2025 Description: Position Summary: The Office of Teacher Recruitment and Quality (TRQ) is responsible for the recruitment of high-quality teachers to meet the staffing needs of Department of Education (DOE) public schools, as well as initiatives to promote equitable and quality distribution of teachers across all schools. Research has shown that teacher quality is the most important variable in raising student learning. Among TRQ's responsibilities are to: Serve as the primary marketing agent and source of information for individuals seeking to become DOE public school teachers. Design and manage recruitment initiatives, programs, and pathways for individuals to become DOE teachers. Select a high-quality pool of candidates through rigorous screening processes. Provide strategic assistance to schools for optimal local hiring decisions. Lead teacher portfolio initiatives to promote equitable distribution of teachers across all schools. The Diversity Recruitment team partners with CUNY, YMI, CEO, and other stakeholders to broaden pathways into teaching, aiming to attract and retain a more diverse teaching force. The Recruitment, Selection, and Enrollment Team within TRQ recruits, screens, and cultivates over 5,000 new teachers hired in NYC DOE each year, working on both traditionally and alternatively certified teacher pipelines. The Senior Recruitment Coordinator coordinates and manages City Hall and mayoral initiatives to attract and retain a diverse teaching force, liaising with staff at universities to drive interest in alternative and traditional pipelines. This role manages branding and marketing for NYCDOE teaching and decision-making for enrollment and selection for over 15,000 candidates annually. Reports to: Director, Recruitment Direct Reports: N/A Key Relationships: Key staff from national and local colleges of education; staff within the Division of Human Resources and other external partners. Responsibilities: Manage City Hall initiatives to attract and retain a diverse teaching force. Coordinate with university partners on recruitment pipeline initiatives. Manage marketing and branding for traditional pipeline candidates. Develop messages for traditional and alternative certification candidates. Review and refine applicant and program guides. Manage communications design and serve as a resource for marketing and communications. Provide community leaders and potential candidate pools with resources and support. Collaborate with university leadership. Manage collection and reporting for feedback with partners. Support Senior Directors in crafting messages for recruitment pipelines. Develop a library of tools for effective messaging. Coordinate outreach to new candidate pools through marketing and job boards. Plan projects and ensure timely communication development. Design and lead implementation of a robust communications plan. Qualification Requirements: Minimum: A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience in community work; or High school graduation or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in community work; or Equivalent education and/or experience. Plus: Two additional years of experience as described above. Preferred: 5 years prior experience in recruitment or related fields. Expertise in community organizing, marketing, and recruitment. Superior interpersonal and communication skills. Experience working in urban public schools. Familiarity with design tools like Canva and Photoshop. Experience with facilitating working groups and presentations. Understanding of teacher recruitment in large urban cities. Ability to use online registration and survey platforms. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to motivate others. Experience in a fast-paced education or government setting. A high degree of cultural competency. Ability to travel frequently for presentations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Please include a resume and cover letter with your application.
