Tag & Title Technician Salary $30,705.00 Annually Location Albany, GA Job Type FULL-TIME CLASSIFIED Job Number 2025-30 Department TAX AND TAG Opening Date 02/14/2025 Closing Date 2/21/2025 11:59 PM Eastern * Description * Benefits * Questions Description The Dougherty County Tax & Tag Department is hiring for a Tag & Title Technician The purpose of this position is to collect motor vehicle taxes, fees, process motor vehicle titles, registrations and renewals in accordance with state laws regarding vehicle registration. This class works under close to general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks. Essential Tasks * Collects all current and outstanding delinquent taxes, fees, and penalties. * Approves data on titles and enters information into state database. * Approves issuance of any special tag based on eligibility requirements. Collects heavy vehicle tax form on all heavy trucks. Responsible for depreciation of heavy equipment, motor homes, travel trailers, etc. as well as any other taxable property excluded from the Motor Vehicle Assessment Manual. * Responsible for personal inventory of tags/control cards. * Provides information in response to both specific and general questions from the public and those who are party to various types of vehicle registration transactions. * Responsible for obtaining correct documents on salvage, abandoned, kit, and glider kit vehicles. * Responsible for obtaining all court related vehicles obtained through divorce, marriage, death, etc. * Acquire, review, process, and approve title applications upon presentation of appropriate documentation by general public. Accountable for any title processing errors and corrections. Assists general public, dealerships, corporations, trucking industry, etc with related information, documentation, prebills and problem solving. * Responsible for recording and releasing security interest on vehicles. * Balances monies received; reconciles cash drawer daily and runs reports at the end of day closeout. * Conducts research, enters, and updates data in the computer. * Performs related work as assigned. Minimum Qualification * High School Diploma or GED equivalent. * Six (6) months of customer service, clerical or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
