The position oversees the reconciliation and completion of general ledger accounts and assists with the administration of the Chaminade's various financial audits, including preparation of financial statements and School operations reports, as well as completing the accounting for more complex accounting areas. Performs accounting functions to support the Business Office team in compilation of revenue and expense transactions, account reconciliations, financial reporting and general accounting tasks. Utilizes accounting and third-party transaction software daily. The Manager, Accounting and Financial Reporting is part of a collaborative team. The position reports to the Director of Finance and oversees work of General Accountant.Duties and Responsibilities:Oversees accounting of tuition revenue and related balance sheet accounts such as prepaid and deferred revenue.Performs investment and endowment account reconciliations and investment roll forward.Utilizes subsystems such as tuition billing, Payroll, student activities to ensure accurate interfaces to the general ledger.Performs analysis of monthly financial statements including variance to budget and prior year for subsequent management review.Conducts balance sheet review with Director of Finance.Coordinates the receipt of donation revenue transactions with Manager, Finance Systems and User Support.Assists Director of Finance with the preparation of the annual budget.Instrumental in the development and automation of management and budget reporting.Prepares ad hoc statistical reports and information as needed.Enforces school and accounting policies and participates in department internal control processes.Responsible for monthly business operation allocations to various divisions/departments.Reviews and approves all reconciliations prepared by General Accountant.Assists with the preparation of the annual audit, including preparations of schedules and providing information for auditors.Interacts closely with accounting and operational staff in the compiling and reconciliation of transactions.Partners with Manager, Finance Systems & Support with the implementation of system automation.Support all Business Office operations as needed.Follow all policies and procedures, particularly with regard to internal financial controls.Implement changes to enhance the overall effectiveness of financial processes.Provides support to the VP, Finance and Operations, and other senior administrators as needed.Minimum Education and Experience:Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree in Accounting required.Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license strongly preferred.Prior supervisorial experience.Audit experience is a plus.Minimum of five years' experience in the accounting field.Strong knowledge and understanding of GAAP particularly in non-profit accounting.Skills and Knowledge:Experience with corporate Accounting software including Fixed Assets, General Ledger and Accounts Receivable/Billing and Revenue platforms.Experience in Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT preferred.Proficient in G-Suite applications and Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.Experience with analysis of operational transactions.Ability to prioritize, plan, and accomplish goals.Highly organized with an ability to demonstrate success both independently and in collaborative groups, within a fast-paced environment, that often requires managing multiple priorities.Able to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, while always maintaining a customer service focus.Excellent communication, administrative, and interpersonal skills; resourceful problem solver; high level of discretion and proven record of maintaining confidentiality and sound judgment.Professional decorum is essential due to regular interaction with parents, faculty, administrators, and business partners.Attention to detail and accuracy.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Office.Exceptional organization and time management skills.Salary and Benefits:This is an exempt 12 month per year position.
