Nature of Role: Reporting to the CNC Manager, the CNC Machinist/Programmer will be responsible for operating assigned machining equipment in supporting the manufacturing needs of the company. This includes preventative maintenance and machine changeovers. Responsibilities: Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs. Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards. Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes. Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Requirements: Associate's degree (A.A.) preferred. Should be proficient with CNC controls and manually operated milling equipment. Proficient in programming in CAD and CAM software (Solid Works, Solid CAM). Must possess strong knowledge of machines and tools with regard to safety, use, and repair. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to work as a team. Ability to use measuring equipment. Ability to operate machinery. Candidates should be capable of working independently in a prototype shop environment. At least one year of work-related experience required, 5 years preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong project management abilities; capable of prioritizing and handling multiple projects simultaneously, under tight time constraints and within budget parameters.
