Primary Location: United States (US) - IA - Ames Function: Technology Title: Senior Software Engineer - 2025024 Onsite/Remote: Onsite Position Your Responsibilities Develop, code, configure, and test programs and systems; Evaluate and implement solutions to optimize cost, quality, and performance of software applications; Analyze assignments and determine software specifications that must be filled to achieve objectives; Execute necessary documentation; Collaborate with relevant stakeholders and team members to ensure that features meet business needs; Follow industry-standard agile software development methodology for development and documentation; Mentor junior software engineers on the team; Develop software solutions for John Deere's Cloud Platforms; Contribute to various phases of the Software Development Life Cycle: planning, analysis, estimation, design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance; Develop reusable patterns to enhance team velocity and promote best practices; Refine coding standards, workflows, and tool standards; Provide inputs into the product development strategy and roadmap; Develop comprehensive software designs, contribute to the system architecture to enable secure, scalable, and maintainable software; Resolve technical challenges in modernizing, optimizing software applications and their hosting environments; Considered a subject matter expert within the team on tools and technology in use; Provide technical guidance and coaching to other team members. What Skills You Need 5 years of experience in software development including Full-stack web application development (Backend and Frontend web application development), and end-to-end solution implementation; 4 years of experience in leveraging DevSecOps such as Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, secure coding principles, and practices to develop secure, scalable, and effective applications; 2 years of experience in working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure platform technologies, and infrastructure-as-code to provision highly scalable and optimized computing environments; 3 years of experience with application containerization, container orchestration, automation, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis; 3 years of experience in software development to design and implement scalable and high-performance systems; 3 years of experience with Agile development processes including Test Driven Development and Test Automation. Education/Experience Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field plus 5 years of related experience.
