HealthEdge Software Inc Staff Software Engineer, Staff Experience in Providence, Rhode Island Overview The Staff Software Engineer is responsible for building the software that enables our digital care management platform, while providing technical leadership that differentiates Wellframe's business capabilities. They accomplish this by working closely with other engineers, product managers, designers, and data scientists. The Staff Software Engineer sits within the Engineering department and reports to a Senior Director, Engineering. Success in this role is demonstrated by a consistent ability to reduce the complexity of projects, leadership of broad architectural work that unlocks new capabilities for the business, and a skill for coming up with improvements that increase the overall productivity of the engineering team. Your Impact: Provide technical leadership of web development across Scrum teams to improve product quality and development velocity. Stay up to date with industry frontend best practices and identify new capabilities that can be unlocked by emergent technologies or techniques. Continuously improve frontend architecture to build a scalable, reliable and performant web frontend. Lead a guild of web developers to establish, prove, and enhance front end development patterns, standards, tools, and reusable components. Establish a culture and practice of building flexible and reusable web components. Mentor and educate teams on established standards and best practices. Provide technical leadership for the Care Manager Experience full-stack web development team. Translate user stories into software solutions. Work closely with product managers and scrum masters to understand the business problems and help in scoping the user stories. Collaborate with designers to ensure we deliver an optimal and accessible user experience. Collaborate with engineering managers and technical program managers to provide good project estimates for on-time delivery of projects. Validate technical design with other engineers. Maintain a high standard for code quality for yourself and others on the team, including automated tests. Lead projects end to end which include technical design, development, testing and on-time delivery of projects and improvements with highest quality. Debug and fix our most challenging production issues. Participate in on-call rotations to ensure our systems have exemplary uptime and reliability. Work with our customer support team to triage, diagnose, and resolve bugs affecting our users. Serve as the point person for any customer escalation bugs for their team. Identify and lead process and technology improvements. Develop a 6-12 month roadmap for implementing technical and process improvements. Mentor Software Engineers and guide their technical and career growth. What You Bring: S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related field of study. Significant experience building and optimizing reusable web component libraries. At least 6 years full-stack web development experience. At least 6 years experience building SaaS or cloud-based commercial software products. Experience with backend frameworks such as Spring or Ruby on Rails with a microservices architecture is preferred. Proficient with a modern scripting language such as Python. Excellent communicator, comfortable explaining technical problems and plans in person and in writing to both a technical and a non-technical audience. Values the difference between good code and correct code, and cares about effective testing. Demonstrable history of technical mentorship. Experience leading complex initiatives from technical design to delivery. Thrives on diverse technical challenges. Passionate about leveraging their technical skills to help improve patient care. Works effectively in a fast-paced, agile startup environment. Stays up-to-date on industry best practices and new technologies. Geographic Responsibility: While HealthEdge is located in Boston, MA you may live anywhere in the US. Type of Employment: Full-time, permanent.
