The Role: TXG is seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Production to lead our Production department in delivering high-quality, on-time, and on-budget projects for our clients. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in experiential production, budgeting, and vendor management, with a strong emphasis on client service and team leadership. The Director of Production will mentor and guide the production team while ensuring seamless execution across all projects. Reporting to the Managing Director, this role requires a proactive problem-solver with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, creative environment. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of our Brooklyn, NY office (Dumbo) and be available for in-person collaboration at least 3 days per week. This is a full-time position with flexibility for a freelance trial period if desired. Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Development: Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to the production team with a focus on providing a high level of client service. Inspire and lead the production team to manage and execute creative, results-driven experiential marketing programs that meet client objectives. Maintain regular weekly meetings with individual team members and monthly full-team meetings to foster camaraderie and enhance the team's knowledge and skillsets. Facilitate regular 1:1 feedback sessions with direct reports and work closely with senior leadership on professional development opportunities for staff. Project & Resource Management: Oversee the workstreams and resource planning of multiple project teams and help define the team structure, roles & responsibilities on a project-to-project basis. Assess incoming projects to determine resource requirements and assign teams to all incoming projects, ensuring we operate within target profit margins and staff hours. Recruit, interview, negotiate, hire, onboard, manage, and offboard all full-time and freelance team members. Responsible for building and maintaining effective client relationships, ensuring that all client needs are addressed in a timely fashion throughout the duration of projects. Attend and coordinate internal and external project kick-off meetings, client calls/meetings, and ensure project recaps are delivered to clients and projects are closed out and reconciled in real-time. Identify and coordinate key vendor partners for inclusion on projects and capabilities presentations for the department. Operational Efficiency: Oversee project budgets for all production team members, working closely with the Managing Director to ensure established revenue and margin goals are met. Multi-task and prioritize workload while overseeing direct reports to proactively meet their project deadlines. Develop initial master production workbooks, including preliminary timelines, budgets, roles and responsibilities, and kick-off checklists. Create, implement, and enforce production department templates in collaboration with Operations. Submit time tracking and expense reports based on Operations' stated deadlines. New Business & Strategy: Collaborate with the business development team to provide proposal budgets and ensure overall production feasibility during the RFP process. Attend new business pitches and capabilities presentations. Participate in creative brainstorming sessions as needed. Capabilities & Qualifications: Minimum 10 years of agency production experience, with prior experience managing a team of at least five (5) people, with a focus on professional growth and development. Expert knowledge of production processes, logistics, vendors, budgeting, and profitability, with the ability to oversee projects from initiation to completion. Ability to foresee and address issues proactively while maintaining composure under pressure. Has an established network of freelance talent and experience in recruiting production team members. Experience collaborating with both internal and external creative and/or design resources. Comfort participating in new business pitches, developing deliverables, and budgets for new business requests. Strong client service skills and experience identifying, managing, and coordinating key vendor partnerships. Experience working with finance and senior leadership to maintain budget integrity and profitability while producing best-in-class work. Passion for staying current with experiential marketing trends and best practices to continuously enhance company offerings. Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Slides, Sheets).
