Job Overview: A growing law firm in New York City is seeking an experienced Criminal Defense Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience working as a criminal prosecutor, assistant district attorney, legal aid/public defender, or criminal defense attorney. The firm is looking for a candidate who is ready to hit the ground running and is willing to learn new aspects of both criminal and immigration defense law. Location: Duties: Represent clients in criminal defense cases, including preparation, negotiation, and court appearances. Handle a variety of cases involving criminal charges, including felonies and misdemeanors. Work with clients to build legal strategies and provide counsel throughout the defense process. Participate in trial preparation, including the drafting of motions, discovery requests, and other legal documents. Engage in client consultations and manage cases from inception through resolution. Opportunity to learn and work in immigration defense if not already experienced in this area. Collaborate with a team of experienced attorneys and staff to provide comprehensive legal defense services. Requirements: Minimum of 1 year of experience in criminal defense or as a criminal prosecutor. Must be licensed to practice law in New York (NY Attorney License required). Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must have a car and be willing to travel as necessary for case-related activities. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. A willingness to learn and develop expertise in both criminal and immigration defense law. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple cases effectively. Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school. Certifications: New York Attorney License (required). Skills: Strong experience in criminal defense law. Ability to handle complex criminal cases and provide strategic legal counsel. Familiarity with criminal trial procedures and litigation. Knowledge of immigration defense law is a plus (will train if necessary). Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
