The Sr. Director, Global Learning & Development is a unique and exciting opportunity that serves Verizon's Corporate teams and Enterprise-wide Learning. The role is responsible for Enterprise and Corporate Functions Knowledge, Skills and Career Development, Leadership Development, Educational Services (Tuition Assistance and Certifications), and Learning & Careers Operations. This is a high-impact role focused on driving Learning & Careers excellence leading a large volume of critical learning initiatives such as Raise the Bar, Verizon's Orientation, Code & Integrity, AI/Gen AI Upskilling, and, by design, will enable significant business transformation, drive revenue and growth, and employee engagement. In addition to leading instructional design, learning delivery, program management and benefits management functions, this role also leads all Learning & Careers Operations (Org Strategy and Governance, Budget Management (to SVP level), Planning and Coordination, and Learning Measurement). The Sr. Director will be a learning thought leader, strategist and architect. The Sr. Director will lead a global team of Learning & Careers leaders and their organizations, and will work collaboratively across all Learning & Careers teams, the Talent & broader HR team, and with business leaders at all levels across the company. This position will report to the VP-Global Learning & Careers and be responsible for supporting over 102K internal learners globally and over 133K external partner learners globally. This position will be a Hybrid role based in any key hub location, or within proximity to a U.S. based Verizon office Responsibilities to include the following: Leadership Development: Lead Verizon's Leadership Development portfolio inclusive of the annual signature program for leaders at all levels (currently Raise the Bar), new leader (currently Accelerate Your Leadership), leader of leaders (currently Multiply Your Leadership), Top Talent Band 6 (Edge Above), pre-leader/introduction to leadership, VLDP, Shadow Board, and critical leadership skills (e.g., storytelling, presentation skills, coaching, delegation, feedback, etc). Lead program architecture, program management, design, development, and delivery leveraging internal expertise, external thought leadership, and partner content/intellectual property. Corporate Functions Learning: Lead client engagement/intake for all Corporate Staff Functions learning needs - VGS (excluding Tech), Marketing, Communications, Finance, Legal & Public Policy, and Human Resources. Broker instructional design and delivery execution across the appropriate learning team(s). Execute learning solutions internally and with external vendor expertise where needed. Enterprise-wide Learning: Lead the development of the critical skilling strategy for business/professional development, technical, and leadership skills defined through Verizon's Strategic Workforce Plan and Talent GPS; includes general skills pathway curation, exploring non-training skills acquisition approaches (e.g., structured developmental assignments), skills assessment approaches (e.g., baseline, progression, proficiency). Oversee new hire orientation, general professional/business skills development, Legal and Compliance training, DEI content and programs (e.g., Allyship) and other learning experiences in alignment with business needs/Talent initiatives; includes client engagement, needs assessment/gap analysis, instructional design/program management, facilitation/delivery execution, multi-mode learning options (e.g., self-paced curated learning pathways, vILT/ILT, structured development assignments and learning effectiveness evaluation. Serve as Learning & Career's lead to Verizon teams (e.g., Public Policy, PR/Comms, DE&I, TA) who lead external initiatives that advance Verizon's Societal pillar and need learning consultation and/or support (e.g., Citizen Verizon, Women's CoLab); broker instructional design, curation, delivery, technology needs across GL&D teams as appropriate. Educational Services: Oversee Verizon's Tuition Assistance and Get Certified Programs. Lead 3rd party vendor management, and contractual agreements including overseeing vendor performance. Lead future solutions for educational services aligned with Talent strategy (e.g., evolve short-form credential offerings) Learning & Careers Strategy & Governance: Oversee strategic org initiatives including transformation, process (e.g., portfolio management, resource management), workforce planning, and interconnected strategy with the broader Talent and HR org. Oversee sourcing partnership and sourcing pipeline prioritization. Oversee global team engagement and international-specific team needs. Oversee and transform all Learning & Careers staff development initiatives and supporting infrastructure (e.g., Trainer/Developer curriculums/certifications, ISD/Delivery Performance Goal templates and measures, Vision & Process, Team Resource Center). Learning Planning and Coordination: Oversee and evolve learning experience planning & coordination including vILT/ILT events planning and production support; learning session needs identification, forecasting and calendaring; learner group requirements, scheduling support, course activities and learner history; trainer resource scheduling and capacity planning; supply ordering, management and distribution. Oversee and evolve learning logistics and operations including vILT and ILT facilities strategy and management, equipment/device management and distribution, equipment labs, concession and test management accounts, internal communications and recognition processes. SVP-level Budget Management: Oversee SVP-level financial planning/budget management including monthly performance tracking, financial forecasting, headcount tracking, sourcing/contracting, purchasing; advise and support SVP-level cost savings initiatives and investment decisions. Learning Measurement Strategy & Execution: Lead and evolve Verizon's Learning Effectiveness strategy and oversee execution of L0-L5 measurement initiatives and solutions including GL&D Dashboard, New Hire Scorecards, business impact and ROI studies, Trainer/Developer effectiveness. Lead all annual and quarterly learning data submissions (e.g., ESG Report, Human Capital Report, HR Scorecard, Talent-related BoD data) ensuring a high degree of data integrity; oversee all external submissions including Training Hall of Fame, CLO Learning Elite, Brandon Hall Group HCM & Technology Awards; leverage all as a means to benchmark work amongst external peers and share best practices internally and with industry peers. Thought Leadership and Innovation: Drive change and innovation through an articulate, inspiring vision while acting as an expert learning consultant and trusted advisor to the Learning & Careers and Talent teams as well as the business. Leverage innovative learning technologies and modalities to advance the scale and effectiveness of all learning experiences. Partner with best-in-class industry, content and technology providers where external content, skills development options and/or learning thought leadership and frameworks are needed; leverage best practice sharing via memberships and relationships with industry experts such as ATD/CDTO and Brandon Hall Group. Create a highly collaborative environment with all constituents: business leaders, HR/Talent and Learning & Careers team members. People Leadership: Lead all facets of the team employee life cycle (Recruiting, Performance, Development, Career, Compensation) to ensure a high-performing, engaged, diverse and inclusive team; continuously evolve team members' skills in existing and emerging learning capabilities. Serve as role-model leader of Verizon's values and V Team Principles. What we're looking for... Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience; Master's degree preferred. 8+ years of experience in Learning or Talent development, strategy, program development, and management with the ability to manage multiple, large-scale enterprise-wide priorities and lead in a highly matrixed environment. Proven people leader with a demonstrated ability to develop and influence others, including key stakeholders and senior leaders Experience building/delivering best-in-class Learning or Talent development experiences, including client engagement, performance consulting, program design/management, instructional design, multi-mode delivery execution, and measurement. In-depth knowledge of Verizon's Strategic Workforce Plan and Talent GPS strategies and processes; knowledge of skills taxonomy and ontology frameworks, skills assessment/measurement frameworks, and upskilling/reskilling strategies. Strong strategic planning skills and ability to identify/assess key points, implications, and recommendations. Experience leading a large team of trade professionals. Strong financial acumen and experience with financial planning/analysis, budget management, sourcing, and purchasing; cost transformation experience. Experience managing large 3rd party vendor partners. Strong consulting, influence, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Executive presence and proven ability to establish and maintain rapport with people of diverse backgrounds and professional levels. Experience stakeholdering with and influencing executive-level leaders. Strong business acumen and organizational, process, and project management skills. Proven oral, presentation, and written communication skills. Experience leading disruptive and innovative complex initiatives. Proven track record of delivering strong business impact. Even better if you have: Instructional design experience is highly preferred Experience with program management of Leadership Development Experience leading enterprise-wide operations, including planning/coordination, facilities strategy/management, resource management/capacity planning, and/or equipment/device management/distribution, internal communications, and recognition Experience leading a mature effectiveness/measurement strategy and tactics, including business impact and ROI analyses; experience with reporting and data analytics, business insight interpretation, and data visualization. Where you'll be working In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager. If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington or Washington, D.C. work location, the compensation range for this position is between $172,000.00 and $320,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more.
