Therefore, we invite and welcome applicants from traditionally underrepresented groups in healthcare "” people of color, people with disabilities, LGBTQ community, and/or gender expansive, first and second-generation immigrants, veterans, and people from different socioeconomic backgrounds - to apply.Job SummaryReporting to the Mass General Brigham (MGB) Enterprise Vice President of Emergency Medicine (VP), the Executive Director, AMCs is responsible for the overall administration and operating results of the Department of Emergency Medicine (the Department) at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH), with four major areas of focus:Clinical Operations:The Department is responsible for approximately 250,000 patient visits each year at the Massachusetts General Hospital Emergency Department, Brigham and Women's Hospital Emergency Department, the Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital (BWFH) Emergency Department, and the Brigham and Women's Urgent Care Center (UCC) at Patriot Place in Foxborough, MA. The Executive Director oversees the MGH and BWH Directors of Operations and collaborates with administrative and clinical leaders within the Department and across MGH, BWH, BWFH and MGB to optimize quality and safety, health equity, patient experience, patient flow, care innovations, staffing, operational efficiencies, service integration, and capital planning efforts.Teaching and Academics:The Department manages the Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency (HAEMR), coordinates Harvard Medical School (HMS) student rotations, and offers clinical fellowship opportunities within the Department's academic divisions. The Executive Director oversees the administrative team supporting educational activities and partners with educational program leaders to maintain a supportive and effective learning environment.Research:The Department manages an active and growing research portfolio with sponsored funding from government, foundation, and industry partners. The Executive Director partners with the DEM Vice Chair of Research to ensure all research and humanitarian service efforts are appropriately supported.Strategic Collaborations and Community Support:The Department markets and provides educational, training, and other non-advisory services to government, non-profit, and industry partners domestically and internationally. The Executive Director partners with the Department's Medical Director of Strategic Collaborations and Senior Director of Finance and Asset Management to ensure SCU efforts are adequately supported.The Executive Director partners with the Chair and Executive Chair of the Department to execute on all objectives and responsibilities across these four mission areas and manages all operating and capital budgets within their purview. Additionally, the Executive Director will advance MGB's and the hospitals' United Against Racism campaign by broadly representing and fostering the institution's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Strategy:Responsible for assisting the VP, Chair, and Executive Vice Chair with the growth and the development of the Department in alignment with the MGB strategic framework and Enterprise Emergency Medicine strategy.Clinical Operations:In conjunction with the VP, Chair, Executive Vice Chair, nursing leadership and other clinical and administrative leaders, directs the clinical operations of all services under the purview of the Department.Compliance:Ensures policies, activities, record keeping, and reporting are in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.Fiscal:Works with MGH, BWH, BWFH, MGB finance teams in preparation of operating and capital budgets.Human Resources:Develops directors, managers, and staff under the Executive Director's oversight.Research:Collaborates with the Vice Chair of Research to maintain and grow the Department's research portfolio.Education:Works with the HAEMR Program Director, Fellowship Directors to develop and maintain high quality clinical training programs.QualificationsGraduate degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or public health (or comparable discipline) required.Minimum of 5 post-graduate years of directly-related, progressively responsible experience required, including supervisory experience.Skills/Abilities/Competencies RequiredAnalytical ability necessary to resolve complex problems.Ability to develop short and long-range plans.A high level of leadership skills necessary to advance and coordinate the achievement of departmental and organizational objectives.A high level of interpersonal and communication skills.Entrepreneurial skills necessary to advance the services provided in the Department.High degree of confidentiality and ability to manage sensitive issues related to personnel and finances.Outstanding organizational skills are necessary to manage many competing timetables and responsibilities.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Additional Job Details (if applicable)Remote TypeOnsiteWork Location2014 Washington StreetScheduled Weekly Hours40Employee TypeRegularWork ShiftDay (United States of America)EEO Statement:Mass General Brigham Incorporated is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
