Essex North Shore is seeking a new Manager of Farm and Grounds. The Manager of Farm and Grounds responsible for overseeing the daily operations of agricultural and landscape areas, ensuring that everything runs smoothly. This role involves managing crops, livestock, equipment, and maintenance of the grounds. The manager supervises staff, implements sustainable farming practices, coordinates planting and harvesting schedules, and ensures compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Bilingual preferred. JOB DESCRIPTION MANAGER OF FARM AND GROUNDS QUALIFICATIONS: * Minimum five (5) years managerial experience at a livestock and crop farm. * Experience in the day to day management of all livestock, horses and small animals. * Demonstrated leadership ability and management skills. * Knowledge of methods, materials, and practices in landscaping and field management, including proper use and care of heavy equipment and farm machinery; superior mechanical skills. * Excellent communication skills. * Able to manage and navigate the computer-based maintenance system. * Ability to solve problems with minimal supervision. * Massachusetts Hoisting Engineer License, Class B Commercial Driver's License, and Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources Applicator License. * Associates degree or Bachelor's degree in a related field. REPORTS TO: Director of Facilities, Farm, and Grounds RESPONSIBILITIES: * Responsible and accountable for ensuring that the agricultural facilities and equipment are safe, clean and in serviceable condition. * Responsible for all agricultural matters, both during the normal school day and year, as well as after hours. * Maintain, improve and harvest agricultural lands to obtain optimum crop production in accordance with modem agricultural practices. * Participate in the general operations and maintenance of the greenhouses to obtain optimum crop production. * Oversee the general/overall landscape and snow removal operations throughout the campus. * Oversee the management, care, and health of all livestock, horses, and small animals. * Serve as the agricultural facilities liaison to the educational leaders. * Perform demonstration lessons for students as requested. * Keep accurate records on crop production, breeding schedules and machinery use/repairs. * Schedule and supervise the agricultural support personnel and student workers. * Maintain and improve agricultural facilities through minor repairs, painting, cleaning, etc. * Develop, schedule and implement detailed short and long range programs of repair and maintenance for all agricultural facilities, equipment and procedures so that they are conducive to optimal teaching and learning. * Assign tasks/jobs to all farm and ground staff. * Develop and implement training program for new employees. * Prepare, submit and administer budgets for the farm and ground departments. * Prepare orders for materials, supplies and equipment. * Establish and maintain an efficient and effective work order process. * Collaborate with the Director of Facilities, Farm and Grounds on care and maintenance of all facilities and equipment. * Serve as a member of the Safety and Security Team; enforce safety regulation. * Evaluate job performance of the farm and ground staff. * Update the Director of Facilities, Farm and Grounds on all matters relative to farm and grounds issues. * Accept additional responsibilities not inconsistent with the position, when requested by the Director of Facilities Farm and Ground and/or the Superintendent-Director. TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: * The nature of this position may require time beyond the regular workday, and it is expected that the individual filling this position will give priority to completing the necessary tasks and set hours accordingly. * Salary, work days and fringe benefits are annually established by the Superintendent Director, in accordance with the policies established by the School Committee.
