Job Description and Duties Under the direction of the Area Coordinator and Assistant Area Coordinator, the Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for all facets of the California Military Department (CMD) facilities maintenance and minor Sustainment, Renovation, and Modernization (SRM) projects within the fifteen counties that the office covers: San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Benito, Santa Clara, Alameda, Contra Costa, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced, Calaveras, Tuolumne, Alpine and Mono. While the CMD supports telework where possible, in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksite with minimal notification if an urgent need arises, as determined by the Department.
