Assistant Director of Budget and PlanningLocation:Syracuse UniversityPay Range:$112,000 - $125,000Pay rates at Syracuse University are based on a combination of factors including, but not limited to, the job responsibilities; the candidate's education, training, work experience and key competencies; the university's strategic priorities; internal peer equity; applicable federal, state, local laws, grant funding and contractual requisites; and external market analyses.Staff Level:S6FLSA Status:ExemptHours:Standard University business hours8:30am - 5:00pm (academic year)8:00am - 4:30pm (summer)Hours may vary based on operational needs.Job Type:Full-timeJob Description:The Office of Budget and Planning is seeking an Assistant Director with a primary focus on budgeting, financial planning and analysis for tuition and financial aid. This position will support the Associate Vice President of Budget and Planning and departmental goals and objectives through effective collaboration and partnership with leadership, colleagues and campus stakeholders.Responsibilities:Forecasting, analysis, budget development and monitoring of school and college tuition aid financial aid.Perform complex what-if analysis on demand and develop complex modeling tools.Examine budget proposals and long-range plans for completeness, accuracy and consistency.Prepare University monthly estimated final reporting, including variance analysis.Collaborate and communicate with school/college budget partners.Assist with annual reporting of budget and 10-year long range plan.Analysis and reconciliation of fiscal year-end RCM closing.Respond to inquiries regarding budgets, financial transactions and University policy.Provide consultation, making recommendations ensuring financial sustainability.Represent the department on committees and special project teams.Training on an as-needed basis to maintain effectiveness in position.Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree required preferably in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or Public Administration or related field with at least 5 years of experience.Experience in higher education setting preferred.Skills and Knowledge:Collaborative and cooperative work ethic.Ability to respond flexibly and positively under pressure.Good judgment and discretion regarding sensitive information.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to work independently.Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.Knowledge of PeopleSoft and Tableau are beneficial.Strong analytical, mathematical and problem-solving skills.Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Adobe and Microsoft Office Suite.Willingness to learn new software applications as necessary.Application Instructions:In addition to completing an online application, please attach a resume and cover letter.About Syracuse University:Syracuse University is a private, international research university with distinctive academics, diversely unique offerings and an undeniable spirit.
