Compensation The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is $102,300.00 to $170,500.00. The product matching team is hiring for a full stack engineer to help build out a new web-based workstation. The workstation will be a key tool used to support mission-critical teams across Grainger's business. We are expecting around a 40/60 split between front-end/back-end work for this position. You will report to the Senior Manager, Product Engineering. You Will: Dive into different layers of our technology stack to build out the workstation using technologies like: React Next.js Express TypeScript Jest Docker Spring Boot Redis Data Bricks Collaboratively build the front and back-end components of the systems. Support the systems you build as part of our on-call rotation. Be open to pair programming and continuously experimenting with ways of working to improve. Develop functionality with speed and high quality. Help lead the team in delivering high-quality, maintainable software with a focus on using product engineering sensible defaults to enable continuous delivery. Contribute to continuous learning on your team culture by leading technical knowledge-sharing sessions with the latest technological features and engineering practices. Build products that delight our users and have empathy for the problems they are trying to solve. Maintain software in production with demonstrated ability to triage and quickly resolve issues. You Have: An interest in data and AI algorithms. 5 years of experience building mission-critical systems as a full stack engineer. A deep understanding of REST and HTTP and how to build robust APIs. Understanding of distributed system design and experience building production-grade distributed systems. Understanding of producer/consumer design patterns and messaging frameworks like Kafka. Built software that runs in the cloud, such as AWS or Google Cloud, and understand cloud-native design patterns. Some experience with CI/CD pipelines and have opinions on what makes a good pipeline. Experience with production support and observability. A belief that quality is everyone's responsibility and hold opinions on how to validate and harden software systems. Automated testing. InversifyJS experience is a plus. SOLR or search engine experience is a plus. Have an ownership mindset.
