Veterinary Assistant Parker Animal Care is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work alongside our team of experienced veterinarians, skilled technicians, and devoted support staff to ensure each animal receives the best possible individualized care during their stay with us. Schedule: We are closed all major holidays (including July 4th, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, & New Year's Day). Enjoy a 2-week rotating, set schedule, so that you can have the ultimate work/like balance.10hr shifts (7am-5pm or 8am-6pm shifts, depending on day). 4 days a week. Alternating Saturdays required. Set schedule Key Responsibilities: * Assist veterinarians and vet techs during examinations, treatments, and surgeries * Gain knowledge of common diseases, their symptoms, and means of transmission * Gain knowledge of preventative health care recommendations to answer questions and assist in marketing veterinary services from which clients' pets would benefit * Safely restrain patients during examinations, injections, and treatments while understanding & learning the individual needs of the pet. * Learn basic front-desk procedures in order to assist receptionists such as phone system, veterinary practice-management software and appointment scheduling guidelines * Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces * Help to run laboratory testing collected by the veterinarian and technician * Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a veterinarian * Maintain accurate medical records * Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment Qualifications: * Professional, cheerful and helpful attitude when interacting with pet owners & providing exceptional customer service * Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting. * Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment. * Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
