Position Summary: The City of Portland's Parks & Recreation Urban Forestry Division is hiring a Private Tree Maintenance Assistance Coordinator to lead the development and management of Portland's first private tree maintenance assistance program. This role is critical in building a new, innovative program to help property owners maintain their trees through funding provided by the Portland Clean Energy Fund (PCEF). The coordinator will work closely with city staff, contractors, interagency partners, and private property owners to deliver a program that improves the health of private trees expands equitable access to tree maintenance services and contributes to Portland's climate action goals. The program will align with the city's broader efforts to support environmental sustainability, urban canopy preservation, and climate resilience. In this role, the coordinator will help reduce barriers to private tree maintenance, particularly for underserved communities, and contribute to the city's goals of equity, environmental justice, and neighborhood livability. Under the supervision of the Urban Forestry Code Compliance Supervisor, the Private Tree Maintenance Assistance Coordinator will develop and implement program policies, coordinate services, and ensure compliance with Portland's Tree Code (PCC Title 11). What you'll get to do: * Research, develop, and implement the private tree maintenance assistance program. * Developpolicies and procedures for eligibility and program delivery. * Coordinatewith city bureaus, contractors, and external stakeholders to track and manage PCEF funding for the tree maintenance program. * Overseeprocurement processes and issue detailed work orders for city or contractor tree crews. * Trainstaff on program requirements and policies. * Conductoutreach and prepare educational resources to inform eligible property owners about program resources. * Ensurecompliance with PCC Title 11 by interpreting regulations, maintaining accurate case records, and reviewing formal enforcement documents. * Provideinformation and assistance to property owners, developers, and other city bureaus regarding tree-related regulations. * Representthe City in hearings, adversarial proceedings, and interagency meetings. * Overseecontractor performance and monitor program outcomes to inform program improvements. About Urban Forestry: Urban Forestry's mission is to manage and ensure Portland's urban forest infrastructure for current and future generations. Portland's urban forest is valued at over $6 billion and comprised of over 1.2 million park trees, 240,000 street trees and 2.9 million private property trees. The Urban Forestry team is responsible for the overall management, stewardship, and improvement of this essential infrastructure system. Urban Forestry's work includes delivery of sustainable and equitable forest services to all Portlanders; establishing and enacting best management practices, plans, policies, and technical standards for tree care and protection and urban forest expansion; implementing, enforcing, and proposing improvements to the City's tree regulations; providing tree maintenance services including 24/7 response to tree emergencies on City properties and public streets; tree planting and expansion of urban forest services; measurement and assessment of urban forest coverage, health, and services; offering community education and stewardship programs; and oversight and support of the City's volunteer advisory tree board.
