POSITION SUMMARY The senior counselor position in the Transitional Support for Emerging Adults will have the opportunity to support youth ages 17-21 transitioning into adulthood. Those that enjoy working with the young adult population will be trained in a model specific program to coach, support, and guide young adults in securing housing, employment, developing appropriate adult relationships, pursuing educational or vocational opportunities, and developing life skills to be able to successfully negotiate adult life. The senior counselor will receive ongoing training and supervision and be part of team passionate about working with young adults. Minimum Qualifications Bilingual in Spanish and English required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field is required. Experience working with young adults and at-risk youth, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills are required. Must have a valid drivers license and access to reliable transportation. May transport clients to appointments or linkages as appropriate.• Provide service (evaluation, treatment, wraparound team facilitation, follow-up, case management) in the office and/or community settings outside of the office (e.g., homes, schools, hospitals, institutions, other community locations) and maintain a flexible schedule to ensure services are delivered based on client needs and as defined by the program.• Provide and support safety planning and crisis intervention/clinical emergencies with appropriate supervision including rotating on-call coverage with other team members to ensure 24 hour availability to clients as required by program.• Participate in the development, implementation, and facilitation of initial treatment plan or plan of care, transition plan and timeline for strategies and next steps as defined by program.• Demonstrate knowledge of internal and external levels of care, referral processes, and resources. Make clinically appropriate referrals for identified support and service needs in a timely manner.• Meet direct service productivity goals as defined by program, understand program/department/agency guidelines, goals and target outcomes, and adhere to practice standards and to data collection and reporting protocols.• Identify potential risk factors and take measures to reduce those risks in the home through appropriate supervision, reinforcement of positive and safe behaviors, trauma-informed and relationally-based therapeutic interventions as defined by program.• Attend and be prepared for scheduled supervision, team meetings, staff meetings or rounds to assist in coordinating case management/care coordination and review of treatment plans/plans of care. Seek additional supervision or consultation as needed and follow through with supervisory directives.• Communicate in a positive, effective manner with client, family, and all internal and external providers.• Continue to develop knowledge and understanding about the history, traditions, values, family systems, and artistic expression of groups served as well as use appropriate methodological approaches, skills, and techniques that reflect an understanding of culture.
