The successful candidate will be tasked with driving efficiency, optimizing processes, and collaborating on strategic initiatives. This role is pivotal in providing exceptional procurement and business contract services, and the CPO will be responsible for the leadership, strategic planning, and management of these areas. Key responsibilities include ensuring adherence to purchasing standards, managing staff, recommending policy changes, and conducting high-level negotiations. The CPO will also be expected to interact significantly with external vendors and subcontractors and to advise senior management on procurement matters. Applicants for the Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent experience, and a minimum of 8 years' of related experience. Advanced experience in drafting, negotiating, and administering complex business contracts, as well as managing contemporary procurement systems in a large organization, is essential. A preferred background includes an advanced degree, experience with the company's policies and procedures, and a minimum of 5 years' in planning and coordinating procurement activities for a multi-functional organization. Experience in a higher education environment, public procurement, and with financial procurement systems such as PeopleSoft or Oracle Cloud, is also desirable. The role requires a high degree of collaboration and the ability to interact with staff and managers across the organization.
