The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal guidance and support on a range of P&C transactional and underwriting matters, with a focus on reinsurance and alternative solutions. This includes detailed contract wording review, editing, and the development of preferred contract language. The role also involves supporting product development, entry into new lines of business, and the development of institutional best practices. The VP will be expected to provide legal support for the company's contract wording tool, assist with claims and coverage issues, and conduct training for the underwriter community. Candidates for this role should have a J.D. from an accredited law school, be licensed to practice in at least one US state, and have a strong understanding of global (re)insurance issues and trends. The ideal candidate will be commercial, pragmatic, and able to articulate legal issues clearly to the underwriting community. Responsibilities also include monitoring and developing contract wording responses to emerging issues, as well as ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The role requires a proactive approach, the ability to evaluate risks, and the development of commercial risk mitigation options. The VP will report to the Chief Legal Counsel for the Americas and will work closely with other legal and business colleagues within the group.
