Job Summary: The Division Manager of Heavy Civil Construction is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, project execution, financial performance, and strategic growth of the heavy civil construction division. This role requires a hands-on leader with extensive experience in infrastructure projects, including highways, bridges, tunnels, water treatment facilities, and other large-scale public and private works. The Division Manager will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership & Business Development: Assist in developing and executing strategic plans to drive growth and profitability in the heavy civil construction sector. Identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and client relationships to expand the company's market presence. Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and market dynamics to position the company for success. Operations & Project Management: Oversee project execution, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Implement operational policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Work closely with project managers, engineers, and site supervisors to optimize project workflows. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local construction laws and regulations. Financial & Budgetary Oversight: Assist in developing and managing budgets, financial forecasts, and cost-control strategies. Monitor project financials, ensuring profitability and alignment with corporate financial objectives. Support contract negotiations and procurement agreements to maximize cost savings and risk mitigation. Safety & Quality Assurance: Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring all projects comply with OSHA and company safety standards. Implement quality control measures to maintain the highest level of workmanship and client satisfaction. Support safety audits and incident investigations as needed. Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of construction professionals. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that supports employee growth and retention. Conduct performance evaluations and provide leadership training opportunities. Qualifications & Requirements: Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 3+ years in a management role . Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale infrastructure projects ($80M+ ). Strong knowledge of civil construction methodologies, equipment, materials, and best practices. Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, or similar tools). Financial acumen with experience managing budgets, financial reporting, and cost control. Deep understanding of safety regulations, permitting processes, and environmental compliance. Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Effective negotiation and contract management abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with clients, stakeholders, and team members effectively. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
