JOB SUMMARY The Shop/Field Service Technician- Utility will diagnose, repair, and maintain customer equipment, including but not limited to: bucket trucks, diggers, truck cranes, boom trucks. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS * This position will work 50/50 both in the filed and in the shop. * Diagnose and repair Utility vehicle hydraulic systems. Has a working knowledge of hydraulic systems, is able to read schematics, and understands the principles and dangers of fluid power. * Diagnose and repair Utility vehicle mechanical systems. Has some experience maintaining and repairing chassis complaints, but most of the experience should be inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing the mechanical components of Utility equipment. * Diagnose and repair Utility vehicle electrical/electronic systems. Can utilize diagnostic tools and equipment, understands the principles of electricity, and can read/utilize electrical schematics for diagnostic purposes. Can perform di-electric and ground system tests. * Reads Customer service orders and plans support activity accordingly * Can identify and order parts as needed for repairs. This includes the ability to definitively diagnose failures and accurately convey needs to parts personnel. * Strong interpersonal skills, the candidate will execute on instruction from their supervisor. The candidate will also be expected to interact with client, client driver, parts personnel, service writers, co-workers, and the general public. The candidate must always display courteous and professional behavior. * The candidate is a strong communicator and utilizes multiple methods for keeping their supervisor, co-workers and clients sufficiently notified. * The candidate values safety over all other priorities and is committed to performing duties without risk of injury to themselves or others. This includes safety on the job and while operating company vehicles. * The candidate has a basic understand of parts, parts inventory, restocking methods and inventory accountability. * The candidate may be asked to work overtime or to perform after-hours service calls. * The candidate may work in a team environment and may take repair-level instruction from a peer. * The candidate possesses hand-tools up to ½ inch drive(sockets) and will be responsible for the security of their personal as well as company-provided specialty tools. * Other functions as directed by supervisor WORK ENVIRONMENT * The candidate may be required to work at client locations or job sites. * The candidate may perform work without cover and subject to hot/cold temperatures and some precipitation. * The candidate may work on uneven surfaces. * This position is exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, electrical systems, hazardous materials, fumes, airborne particles, and moderate noise levels. Appropriate PPE gear must be worn as required. REPAIR & TIME DOCUMENTATION * The candidate is required to complete both paper and electronic checklists. * The candidate shall enter repair information into the Company maintenance system using smart phone, tablet, or computer. The candidate shall clearly document their actions on electronic work orders. * The candidate must accurately account for payroll and repair time using the Company's electronic time keeping system. * Must adhere to company and regulated standards for all job functions including but not limited to OSHA, ANSI, and DOT * The candidate may be required to use MS Outlook (email), MS Word (word processor), or other internet-based programs PHYSICAL DEMANDS * This position requires sitting, stooping, kneeling, pushing, climbing, lifting, balancing, moving and reaching and working overhead * Ability to occasionally lift 90 lbs. and regularly lift 50 lbs. * Candidate may be required to obtain a DOT medical card. * Candidate must pass a pre-employment "fit-for-duty" assessment. * The candidate may occasionally be required to test/operate equipment to include aerial lifts that exceed 25' in height EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE * Qualified Utility Inspector certification is preferred but not required * Trade School diploma or military training specific to this field is preferred * 5 years of experience as a Utility Fleet Equipment Mechanic/Technician is preferred, however; the company reserves the right to consider lesser experienced candidates * Strong knowledge of Hydraulic and Electrical systems operation and repair is preferred * Continuing education with verifiable credits from Manufacturer's technical schools or training programs is preferred * Willingness to receive ongoing training, both internal and from our vendor partners * Must be able to obtain certifications for Fluid Power, ANSI, OSHA Job Type: Full-time Pay: From $32.00 - $38.00 per hour Benefits: * 401(k) * 401(k) matching * Dental insurance * Health insurance * Health savings account * Life insurance * Paid time off * Referral program * Vision insurance Schedule: * Monday to Friday Work Location: In person
