The Role As a Senior Planning Engineer you will manage network elements for voice and data networks and monitor and evaluate capacity utilization for these networks. You will also submit capacity triggers as necessary. Some other responsibilities will be forecasting and trending bandwidth growth to produce capacity triggers for bandwidth relief. Lastly, you will develop plans to augment capacity relief as needed. Location This is a work from home position within the U.S. The Main Responsibilities Triggers projects utilizing the most feasible, practical and economical means. Performs engineering work and applied research, development and design of new projects, to include design, fabrication, modification and evaluation of equipment and devices. Skilled in planning and/or engineering. Analyzes complex local and wide area network systems and/or customer network environment, including planning, designing and evaluating. Must be capable of handling moderately complex engineering assignments. Supports acquisition and implementation of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services. May act as a technical project leader or provide work leadership for lower level employees. Excludes those with full supervisory responsibilities. Requires limited direction and guidance from management, and self-sources work and proactively informs on progress to team peers & leader. Quickly grasps new technology/process and fully capable of performing at subject matter expert level within functional domain, with understanding of peer teams dependencies/activities. Expert knowledge of network platforms (SONET/TDM, DWDM, IP/E). Special project ownership outside of tasks (training, mentoring, reporting, documentation, process dev., etc.). Very capable of researching even ambiguous obstacles and resolving within span of their control. What We Look For in a Candidate Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and relevant experience 6+ years of related experience 4+ years of related experience with a Master's Degree Compensation This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
