We have a great opportunity for you to use your mechanical skills and become part of the Facilities, Finance, and Analytics (FFA) team as a Maintenance Mechanic 2! Our FFA team is dedicated to partnering with DSHS employees to access support, care, and resources for others. You will assist in plumbing, steam, electrical, welding, carpentry, and machinist work on the campus of Behavioral Health Treatment Center Maple Lane in Grand Mound, WA near Centralia. This is a great opportunity to perform journey level work in repairs, remodeling, and construction of buildings, grounds, and equipment. Your knowledge and experience will ensure effective operations on the campus and support our mission by promoting sound management of DSHS resources. This job offers stability in the trades, yet each day is unique in projects that you are involved with. * You'll have a consistent 8:00a.m. - 5:00 p.m. workday schedule, with Mondays & Tuesdays off. * You'll work with an interesting blend of old and new construction, working on a variety of equipment. * Since the work is at one campus, there is no traveling for work. * You'll receive a great benefits package, with coverage for yourself and family. * Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary How much do you currently pay out of pocket for benefits? (Note: This position is anticipate to last one year) Who should apply Professionals with a High School Diploma or GED and valid driver's license, and * Four years of experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction, or repair work, or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanical trade. * Ability to work from blueprint or schematics. * Knowledge of common methods, practices, and materials used in repairing buildings, mechanical equipment, and building facilities. * Ability to use hand and power tools with reasonable degree of skill and safety. * Ability to estimate materials and time needed to complete assigned jobs. * Experience working with fire alarm and/or fire sprinkler systems. * Note: This job is classified as Maintenance Mechanic 2. Some of what you will do * Perform maintenance and repairs. * Independently perform work in several skilled areas, such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems. * Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on all types of mechanical equipment such as laundry, kitchen, hospital, laboratory, and air conditioning equipment. * Change oil, greases, filters, drive belts, sprockets, shafts, and bearings to ensure proper operation. * Perform maintenance, operation, and repair of electrical, mechanical, and structural systems of buildings and utility distribution. * Monitor safety, fire protection, and environmental control equipment to ensure the building systems and equipment are operating in a satisfactory condition. * Respond to service requests and secure necessary assistance. * Take preventative and emergency action to control malfunctions. * Operate hand tools, power tools, and other shop equipment.
