The Riverside County Information Technology Department is seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT Systems Administrator III to lead the design, implementation, and management of scalable, secure, and highly available multi-cloud environments, specifically across AWS and Azure platforms. This role will involve strategic planning, architectural design, security, cost optimization, and ensuring that cloud infrastructure meets both current and future business needs. As a key technical leader, the IT Systems Administrator III will collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide governance for cloud operations, and ensure that cloud systems operate efficiently while remaining secure and compliant. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in cloud architecture, infrastructure, and governance best practices, with a strong background in AWS and Azure environments. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge: Cloud Automation and Orchestration: Familiarity with automation tools such as AWS CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices. Cloud Migration: Experience migrating on-premise workloads to AWS and Azure environments and managing hybrid cloud infrastructures. Containerization: Proficiency with container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, as well as managing containerized applications in cloud environments. Skills: Project Management: Ability to manage cloud infrastructure projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines effectively. Cloud Cost Optimization: Advanced skills in identifying cost-saving opportunities and optimizing cloud resource usage for greater efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Continuous Learning: A demonstrated ability and interest in staying updated on new AWS and Azure features, technologies, and industry best practices to continuously improve cloud infrastructure. Abilities: Client-Focused Mindset: Ability to understand and align cloud infrastructure design with the organization's business goals, ensuring solutions meet both technical and business needs. Cloud Infrastructure Design & Architecture: Lead the design, implementation, and management of secure, scalable, and highly available multi-cloud environments (AWS and Azure). Collaborate with stakeholders to align cloud infrastructure with business goals, ensuring solutions meet operational and security requirements. Governance & Security: Develop and enforce cloud governance policies, ensuring compliance with security standards and regulatory requirements. Implement Identity and Access Management (IAM) strategies, role-based access controls (RBAC), and cost management practices. Cloud Monitoring & Optimization: Set up and manage monitoring tools (AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor) to ensure performance, availability, and security. Proactively resolve infrastructure issues, optimize resources, and implement automated alerts for performance and security events. Cloud Migration & Disaster Recovery: Assess, plan, and execute cloud migration strategies, ensuring workloads are optimized for cost, performance, and security. Architect disaster recovery solutions to ensure system resilience, data protection, and compliance with recovery objectives. Collaboration & Knowledge Transfer: Provide training and mentoring to internal teams on cloud best practices and security policies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cloud infrastructure supports operational goals and share knowledge of emerging cloud technologies. Education: Completion of 30 semester or 45 quarter units from an accredited college or university, preferably with coursework in computer science, computer information systems, data processing, information management, or a related field to the assignment. (Additional IT job-related experience may substitute for the required education on the basis of 30 semester or 45 quarter units equaling one year of full time experience.) ***Please Note: If qualifying using educational units, proof is required by the closing deadline. Please see "Supplemental Information" below for guidelines.*** Experience: Four years of successful journey level Cloud infrastructure experience, one year of which included either lead level duties or technically advanced IT job-related work. (One year as an IT Systems Administrator II will satisfy the one year of lead or technically advanced experience requirement.) License: Possession of a valid California Driver's License is required. Essential Skills for Cloud Infrastructure Management: We're looking for candidates with a strong foundation in cloud technologies and key skills to help manage and optimize our cloud environments: Key Knowledge Cloud Platforms: Experience with AWS (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM) and Azure (VMs, Storage, Active Directory). Cloud Security: Understanding of IAM, encryption, firewalls, and VPN configurations. Networking: Knowledge of VPC, subnets, routing, load balancers, and network security. Operating Systems: Proficient in Linux/Unix and Windows Server, including cloud system maintenance. Cloud Monitoring & Logging: Familiarity with tools like AWS CloudWatch and Azure Monitor. Disaster Recovery & High Availability: Knowledge of cloud-based recovery strategies and configurations. Cost Management: Experience with AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, and cost optimization. Key Skills Cloud Deployment & Management: Proficient in provisioning and managing cloud resources. Scripting & Automation: Skilled in PowerShell or Python for automating tasks. Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and resolve system and network issues. Identity & Access Management: Experience with AWS IAM and Azure Active Directory. Backup & Restore: Implementing cloud-based backup and restore strategies. Key Abilities Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting and problem resolution skills. Collaboration: Ability to work effectively across IT teams. Documentation: Detail-oriented in documenting configurations and processes. Security Mindset: Ensuring security best practices in cloud environments. Adaptability: Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools and technologies.
