Calvert Impact, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit ("Calvert Impact"), is sole member of Climate United. The successful candidate will be employed by Calvert Impact or one of its subsidiaries. Job DescriptionClimate United Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit ("Climate United"), is seeking a full-time Director of Investments where you'll spearhead the development of our Transportation portfolio.The Director will report to the Chief Investment Officer and be responsible for the development, execution and ongoing management of mission-aligned lending strategies in the Transportation sector. This individual will manage a small team of investment professionals responsible for deal sourcing, market research, due diligence, financial and strategic analyses and post-investment activities in support of a deeply mission-focused investment portfolio.The Director will help lead due diligence processes, manage and mentor junior team members, guide the preparation of financial models and key analyses and develop forecasts of environmental outcomes. The Director will help manage and monitor Climate United Fund's sectoral investment portfolio which includes working with portfolio partners to ensure appropriate financial performance, compliance with regulations as well as financial and impact reporting. As Climate United's lead for this sector, the Director will be expected to help continually expand the knowledge base of the organization. Key Responsibilities We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a strong interest in climate finance, a creative approach to deal structuring/negotiations and a positive attitude. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Develop and refine sectoral target markets and asset deployment strategies. Develop sectoral deal sourcing strategies, source opportunities, manage sectoral origination strategies. Develop and manage detailed diligence plans and drive efficient execution. Lead financial modeling and risk assessment efforts. Negotiate financial/legal agreements with counterparties. Lead diligence discussions with Climate United Fund Investment Committee. Oversee transaction execution and coordination with internal teams. Foster strong relationships with borrowers, investees, and counterparties. Shape investment policies and guidelines for various market segments. Stay abreast of industry trends and credit risk developments. Elevate Climate United's industry presence through networking and communication efforts. Required Qualifications 10+ years of experience in Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, Project Finance or Private Credit. While Climate United would prefer candidates with strong transportation or renewable finance experience, the successful candidate could have a track record of innovative financial transactions in various fields. Advanced degree in finance, economics, or related field. Prior experience in institutional-scale financial intermediaries. Familiarity with inclusive greenhouse gas reduction initiatives. Proven track record of project management and relationship building. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. Entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to tackle challenges head-on. Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Passionate about the mission and work of Climate United, Calvert Impact, and committed to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
