Chief People Experience Officer Summary: Safe Horizon's mission is to provide support, prevent violence, and promote justice for victims of crime and abuse, their families, and communities. We are the largest organization helping victims of violence, abuse, and exploitation in the United States. Our dedicated staff of over 750 touches the lives of more than 250,000 children, adults, and families each year. Safe Horizon's offices are located throughout the five boroughs of NYC in over 150 locations with many programs operating non-traditional work hours including 24-hour programs. The Chief People Experience Officer (CPX) is responsible for leading the people strategy for Safe Horizon, aligning human resources (HR) initiatives with business objectives, and providing the overall oversight and vision setting for operational and administrative goals, policies, and practices. The CPX, with their team, will utilize a human-centered approach to enhance the overall employee experience from position candidacy through transitions from Safe Horizon. The CPX will lead the following efforts: employee experience and engagement; workforce management; compensation and benefits; HR systems and technology; learning and staff development; compliance and risk management; change management; crisis management; and data collection and reporting. The CPX is a member of Safe Horizon's Executive Team which sets the strategy for overall organizational success. The CPX is a steward of organizational culture and, with the PX team, cultivates a culture of belonging and inclusion, encourages innovation, and supports change management. Responsibilities: Supervise staff of people experience professionals to develop, lead, and implement the people experience strategy to support all aspects of both day-to-day human resources services and the overall organizational growth plan. Serve as a strategic business partner to management and staff on employee relations issues, interpretation of company policies, procedures, and guidelines. Provide guidance to managers on performance evaluation, career development, talent acquisition, equitable and fair compensation, benchmarking, benefits, performance management, and personnel changes. Recommend, develop, and implement programs to sustain positive employee morale and low employee turnover, and support the Safe Horizon strategic plan. Ensure all HR systems and processes are up-to-date. Serve as a driving force behind the design and execution of organizational wellness initiatives. Uphold and shape organizational commitment to anti-racism/anti-oppressive values through the employee experience. Measure, manage, and motivate employee performance through the coordination of a performance management program. Develop talent acquisition strategies and practices that meet the organization's business needs, with a particular focus on direct hires. Leverage data and analytics to gain insight into workforce trends, employee behavior, and overall organizational health to inform strategic decisions and actions in talent acquisition, employee engagement, and retention. In conjunction with the Deputy CEO and the CFO, design progressive compensation and benefits programs to attract, retain, and reward top performers. Lead and manage the implementation of talent development programs to continuously grow and challenge employees, creating a career ladder for the agency. Maintain responsibility for organization compliance with all funder and legislative requirements (i.e., OSHA, EEO, FMLA, FLSA). Perform other responsibilities required to support the organization's HR needs. Qualifications: 10+ years of progressive human resources experience. Demonstrated knowledge of multiple human resources disciplines (employee relations, performance management, talent acquisition, compensation, training, benefits, etc.). Experience with nonprofit organizational management, including engagement with the board of directors. Human services organizations a plus. Demonstrated expertise in applicable laws and regulations related to human resources and general business practices, both nationally and internationally. Proven ability to plan, develop, and direct the organization's Human Resources/Department's function and performance. Certification in SHRM and/or HRPI preferred. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources/Business, Master's Degree preferred. An excellent project manager with the ability to collaborate across all levels of staff as well as lead projects to successful and timely completion. An excellent communicator, both verbal and written, with an engaging and professional manner; able to communicate at all levels. A grounded anti-racist leader able to engage in growth conversations and activities that challenge racism and other forms of exclusion, bias, and oppression. An effective multi-tasker with the ability to prioritize work and maintain confidentiality and accuracy of employee information. A seasoned professional, able to handle difficult situations effectively, exhibiting sound judgment.
