ROLE TITLE: Director, Donor Relations POSITION REPORTS TO: Senior Managing Director (SMD), Head of Development (D.C. & Virginia) PRIORITY APPLICATION DEADLINE : Friday, February 14th LOCATION: Based on local fundraising portfolio - must be in the Baltimore, Washington, D.C., or Northern Virginia area WHAT YOU'LL DO Teach For America's Field Fundraising teams are responsible for cultivating, stewarding, and managing relationships with donors in our local communities who share our commitment to ensuring that all children have access to an equitable and excellent education. As a member of the Field Fundraising team supporting local fundraising in TFA's D.C. & Virginia and Baltimore Regions, you will be a part of a team-based effort charged with developing and executing on a long-term vision and strategy to achieve our development goals for both public and private funding. In your role, you will partner with Executive Directors, regional advisory board members, and front-line fundraisers to create and manage the touchpoints and communications that fundraisers will utilize to maximize giving, playing a key role in new donor strategy and acquisition over the next 3-5 years. Reporting to the SMD, Head of Development for D.C. & Virginia, you will be charged with managing local fundraising, cultivation, and stewardship events, and designing and creating compelling fundraising collateral and campaign content to support and strengthen local fundraising efforts. You will work directly with the Executive Directors and other field fundraisers to cultivate and steward a portfolio of donors, and ensure the primary solicitor is well-positioned to engage with donors across fundraising streams and at all stages of the donor life cycle. We are looking for a true team player who can make a significant contribution across the local fundraising landscape. In partnership with local Executive Directors, the VP, Field Fundraising and other fundraisers in local markets, you will be a key contributor in developing and executing the strategy to acquire, cultivate, retain, and diversify the donor base in TFA's Baltimore and D.C. & Virginia Regions. WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR 50% - Events & Stewardship: Partner with Executive Directors and Heads of Development to plan and execute the vision and strategy for donor cultivation, stewardship, and fundraising events in the Baltimore and D.C. & Virginia regions, including D.C. & Virginia's Annual Benefit Dinner with a fundraising goal of $1 million. Manage event-related communications with local funders and attendees, and collaborate with local donor portfolio managers to support event-related touchpoints including invitations, attendance tracking, event follow up, gift acknowledgements, and social media posts and ensure alignment with local stewardship strategies. 40% - Marketing & Communications: Collaborate with local portfolio managers to create and manage an annual calendar for donor communications, events, and other touchpoints to support and strengthen donor stewardship in each region. Develop content to design and create annual reports, pitch decks, newsletters, campaign messaging and other compelling collateral to support regional fundraising efforts. 10% - Team Commitments: Steward team and organizational initiatives, such as regional programming and events, development and regional team stepbacks and conferences, corps member interviews & selection, and collaboration and resource sharing in Donor Relations workstreams across the 9 regional markets supported by the Field Fundraising Team. YOUR EXPERIENCE Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications): Project Management & Execution Experience in complex project management, including managing up and laterally, to meet outcomes, deadlines, and event fundraising goals Outstanding organizational skills Flexible orientation to problem solving, with the ability to adjust strategies and priorities as needed to meet event goals Marketing & Communications Exceptional design skills with experience creating compelling collateral and other content for complex fundraising campaigns and donor relations strategies Effective communicator in both written and verbal communications; experience tailoring content and approach for different constituency groups Relationship Building Build strong relationships with Executive Directors, Field Fundraising Teammates, and Regional colleagues to build a close understanding of regional priorities and impact, and local fundraising landscape, informing event programming and marketing & communications content and collateral Serve as an effective organizational steward in all direct event-related communications and touchpoints with donors. Prior experience Required: At least 4+ years of related experience in development and fundraising context Required: Track record of planning and executing quality, high-profile events, and creating compelling marketing and communications collateral Preferred: Teach For America development experience Work Demands Occasional weekend or evening work hours required. Travel to execute day-of, week-of and/or post-event logistics for major events YOUR FUTURE TEAM The Revenue and Development team at Teach For America inspires donors and champions to contribute to shaping the future of our country by investing in Teach For America's work with students nationally and regionally. This role will be an essential part of the Field Fundraising arm of the Revenue and Development team, maximizing the contributions of local donors across multiple regions of the country. YOUR COMPENSATION The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role.
