Inventory Control Clerk JOB TITLE: Inventory Control Clerk JOB STATUS: Non-Exempt REPORTS TO: Inventory Control Specialist DEPARTMENT: Parts POSITION: Non-Supervisory Summary: The Inventory Control Clerk is responsible for purchasing and receiving parts across all GTR locations by ensuring accuracy of inventory by resolving any discrepancies during receiving, and processes all returns, credits and cores. This role plays a crucial part in creating uniformity across all parts departments. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Assists with ordering and maintaining stock levels for all makes Carrier and Volvo part orders. * Track and process branch transfer items. * Invoice and packing slip matching. * Work with the accounting department to resolve any invoice discrepancies. * Responsible for parts inventory receiving and ensuring accuracy of orders. * Responsible for creating new part numbers and auditing numbers across all branches to maintain uniformity across all locations. Ensure correct parts pricing. * Responsible for processing all returns, credits and cores. * Assist with physical inventory count yearly. * Responsible for bulk purchasing and ensuring that the correct parts are allocated to each branch accordingly. * Assists in identifying obsolete parts (parts with no movement for 12 months) and work with management on ways to reduce this number. * Advising Management regularly and on a quarterly analysis of parts movement, obsolescence, and pricing strategies along with recommendations including special discounts to customers based on larger volume agreements. * Subject matter expert and administrator for OEM parts computer systems. Trouble shoots problems as needed. Provide training as needed. Evaluate systems and recommend changes and upgrades as warranted. * Establish relationships with vendors. * Other duties as assigned. KEY SKILLS AND ABILITIES: * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Organized and detail oriented. * Knowledge of parts inventory and ordering is very desirable. * Proficient with computers. * Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and customers. * Self- Aware: ability to handle stress under pressure. * A commitment to great customer service. QUALIFICATIONS: * High school diploma or equivalent. * 5+ years' experience in ordering truck and refrigerated parts; or any equivalent combination of training and experience is preferred.
